I have certainly noticed a similar trend of extremely lite rules only for all the gaps to be thrown at the GM to deal

My most fond trpg memory was one summer I spent where literally every day for 3 months was pathfinder.
6-8 hours a day just pathfinder.
I've always been a paizo fan(even have the Pathfinder for Savage Worlds line), but I think I'm upgrading to paizo stan
