@classic_film I wouldn’t call Cavett’s run a failure—a different aim & audience, with many of the episodes still circulating as classics now, with everyone from Olivier to James Baldwin to Groucho Marx to….Thank goodness.

@exitthelemming Very cool idea indeed! I still have vivid memories of Edward Petherbridge in The Other Place….

@RoseUnwin Yup. Problem is, the arts-loving public suffers. I doubt I’d be where I am without those opportunities for cheap standing room tix at the KC in my teens. National treasures & values all under direct assault. This one w/o even a pretense of a reason.

@mrcarl_woodward Every night is different, of course—doesn’t match my/audience’s response 10 days ago…

@classic_film Have to include Morgan…I’d personally add A Midsummer Night’s Dream but get why others wouldn’t; Time After Time yes. & which Batman was it? But for me, always a stage actor 1st & foremost: his Hamlet helped create my life. He was a gentle man when I got to meet him.

@classic_film Disappointing to see Kildare, Casey, & House go, & now this…so much for an actual medical doctor-centered drama competition…

@publicradionerd I sort of can, given the publicity—a “tender” love story doesn’t strike me as what we need right now—or what Marlowe’s script encourages…but I wish it well! Meanwhile, going to “Kyoto” tomorrow, so doing my supportive thing!

@LazarusTheatre @TheRSC @TheStage Not the first foray, as I’ve noted elsewhere (RIP Michael Boyd)—but true that one didn’t get funding past prototype..but if @tompiperdesign had done the amazing poppies by then, “Prospero’s Island” wd’ve been the first fully realized, I bet…all about the funding…

@publicradionerd Not the first: @tompiperdesign & Michael Boyd led a team I was lucky enough to be minorly involved with who prototyped “Prospero’s Island” 20 years ago—it was gorgeous…but I guess prohibitively expensive to get sponsors to realize fully back then :(
