Having moved to Florida three years ago, this is the activity that I miss most of living in Central NY. Granted these day were far and few between. In fact if every winter day was like this I would have never left. This is Otsego lake in Cooperstown, known locally and fondly as Glimmerglass Lake as written by James Fenimore Cooper in ‘Last Of The Mohicans’. I discovered Nordic Skates in the late 90’s, loved the sense of adventure of finding skateable ice and skating new Adirondack lakes. That’s Kingfisher Tower built by Edward Clark in the early 1900’s, an attorney who made his fortune from Singer sewing machines and a direct benefactor to Cooperstown and Otsego county to this day.
