In the battle, Mughals were so terror struck when Rana Pratap launched the attack, that they ran away from the battle and didn’t stop even after crossing the river. Mughal account themselves state that they were afraid of going back after Rana.
Recent articles on the outcome of the Battle of Haldighati have described Rana Pratap fleeing the battlefield as a “tactical retreat”. This is only a shade better than declaring that Pratap won the battle, but still shows historical ignorance and perhaps even wilful distortion.
