The #NJDevils beat the Penguins, 3-1, on Feb. 9, 2013. With the game tied late in the 2nd period, Martin Brodeur left the crease to retrieve his stick & this happened.

Honestly, I would’ve hoped they’d be a little closer to the top spot. Overall, I would’ve been happy being in the top 3, & only 2 points out of 2nd place. I would not have believed that the Caps would be 1st. No way. That’s more shocking.
If I told you nothing about the NJ season but showed you these standings preseason, how would you feel? After getting over the shock of Washington you'd see the NJ 8 pts ahead of the first team out with the #2 goal differential in the conference and be excited for the postseason.

Devils have been tied to Ryan Donato before. Brayden Schenn is interesting. The Blues captain is 33 & has 11 goals this season. $6.5M thru 2027-28. Not sure he’s the right guy. Right?
