It would be negligent, let alone IRRATIONAL to let the leaders who created all of the problems (while continuing to massively profit) be solely responsible to “fix” it. Bring in the athletes and others to co-create a sustainable future and model that isn’t constantly under duress
SEC commissioner Greg Sankey further criticized the current NIL system and called for change during an appearance on @finebaum. "I hear about collectives that are struggling to pay bills for promises made. That is not a healthy system." More:

@achristovichh And as the Wisconsin situation has illuminated (and is the case in every major conference at likely every school), athletes are being coerced to sign away rights that schools themselves should have absolutely no rights to, all in the name of “NIL”.

@richfromatl @RossDellenger Have both. Took 10 minutes to get pointed to the right line (the airport ops staff gives conflicting info). Took me over an hour to get thru security. Advise everyone to get there hours early and get a drink when you’re thru.

@Baseball_Jenn As an Orioles fan I’d certainly take being in on these guys and not getting them than simply hoping to be surprised that we’re actually shooting our shot, which feels rare.

@DanMurphyESPN Enabling those solely responsible for all that ails the industry to unilaterally develop its “solutions” that Congress would codify is absurd. I trust lawmakers come to that obvious conclusion and bring in the right checks and balances independent of these college leaders.

@WinterSportsLaw It’s interesting that coaches get bonus comp on academic success but not the students themselves. IMHO remove those bonuses to greater strengthen the ties to college and athletics but reduce any arbitrary and punitive consequences athletes face and negotiate those pieces

It's the most obvious issue hiding in plain sight. College football's leadership want the kids to believe they now have the PRIVILEGE of an expanded playoff to win a title, that they should be grateful for, even as every coach restructured to make more $$ in the expanded playoff.
It’s also why players having a say in how many games they play (which they currently don’t) is also a big deal. One of many issues players should be able to negotiate/bargain on.
