because I’m pretty chill when everything’s on fire, madness & mayhem feel like a normal Monday, and I’ve been told my voice isn’t horrible to hear on the other end of a 3am consult call from the ED.

DOs and MDs follow parallel paths to residency. Yet 9% of residency programs NEVER interview DOs, and another 27% seldom do.
@AustinScottGA08
, please help ensure all residency programs are open to DOs.

Are you an osteopathic medical student? Do you wanna be part of literally the coolest group of people in the country? Are you ready to make the best friends of your life? What’re you doing still reading this?? Go check it out! GO GO GO
@NationalSOMA
I love the residency panels with PDs/APDs that are straight up honest like “truly we just wanna make sure you’d vibe with the fam, we’re like legally obligated to teach you the rest, we just wanna rule out any straggling psychopaths thatve made it this far.”
#Premeds
: There are people in this thread, including myself, willing to help you for free. By no means does being a current med student make me the most qualified to give advice. But I will do what I can to help. You WILL make it!
How do you JUST get accepted to med school and automatically think you can charge people absurds amount of money for help with the application process????🤨🤨🤨 lmfao
Still confused why O-Chem is a prerequisite for medical school but anatomy & physiology is not.
I’m finishing up my first year and it’s like mostly anatomy and physiology in here.
An honor to call this man my classmate, my colleague, my muse, my best friend, but most importantly - my brilliant husband. Soak this moment in, my love. I’m so incredibly proud of you!
@AnthonySciuva
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Dr.
@john_gimpel
as he’s addressed National SOMA in Washington DC, Chicago for the AOA HoD, and in Boston at OMED. But today, he’s coming to our little PCOM South Georgia campus. Looking forward to seeing you again in my neck of the woods!

I remember feeling so defeated and vulnerable as a pre-med trying to apply. I would sold my soul to get in if I could’ve afforded it. This particular gatekeeping of advice and resources for financial gain is disgusting and should be frowned upon by medical institutions.
POV: youre a first year med student (in red and blue) married to a second year med student (purples) trying to find time to do literally anything but study together every week 🔪
My husband just delivered his first baby and idk why I AM the emotional one! Constantly, consistently, and continuously so proud of you, my love.
@AnthonySciuva
@grahamwalker
I agree with this. While we don’t have a mandatory Sports Med/PT rotation, as DO students we do have a /heavy/ foundation in MSK dx/tx within our OMM curriculum all throughout the four years of medical school. Our school has an excellent PE course x2 yrs as well! So important!!
Thank you to

Excited to get to work with the newest chapter at PCOM South Georgia and to be part of the Medical Association of Georgia - Medical Student Section!!

Nothin like crying in the lobby of the hotel at a conference because you are so in love with the mission of your organization and watching the besties thrive is emotional as hell. Proud to be a SOMIE
@NationalSOMA
I am absolutely astonished and honored to be with such an amazing woman and partner in crime!
@DestinySciuva
I love you and I can’t wait to see the wonderful things you continue to do!
in that inter-rotation weekend, blaring the cranberries in my headphones, trying to write my personal statement for VSLO/ERAS, eating my weekly bagel in the next town over - it a beautiful day to write about why I want this particular specialty for the rest of my life 🖤

Writing my personal statement right now and it feels more like the record scratch intro to a Netflix coming of age series, “I bet you’re wondering how I got here” than anything.
I’m consistently reminded that I married an incredible man. I’m so proud and constantly in awe of his passion and care for this pursuit of medicine. I love “planting these trees” with you,

Close to submitting my first paper for peer review simply because an incredible (& accomplished) stranger reached out w/ some important questions & offered this opportunity. Never underestimate the power of inquisition and a few dedicated scientists-we wont disappoint

you’ve been so good to me. Headed home with tears in my eyes after a weekend with the most brilliant people involved in this profession. I miss yall already, until next conference I’ll love watching everyone’s growth from afar.

Me: what past medical history do you have? High blood pressure? Diabetes?
Pt: …no :)
Me: okay, what medications do you take?
Pt: …yes! (;
me: excellent! :)
@futuredocNat
This was literally the exact same thing that happened to me my first cycle. I applied to 39 schools and after that last rejection hit, the feeling of defeat was monstrous. I know this is really difficult, I see you and as hard as it is, please keep fighting to get there.

Day 2 of training for a 15k purely out of spite towards myself, God, and everyone who stated their doubt towards me registering. No worries though, AED is in sight.
Med Student conversation at lunch:
“Have you ever shaved a back before?”
“I haven’t /shaved/ a back before but I have /skinned/ a back. Does that count?”
A gentle acknowledgment and reminder that hit a little deeper as I head into board prep. Tell your friends they’re doing great things, they might not know how much they need to hear it.
My father in law, geeking out over hallmark movies at 6am on Christmas morning: “I know you can always tell what’s gonna happen, but I love them. They’re so cute. Some of them have to be true!”
I love having friends with dogs or cats because they come over and see whatever trap or baby-proofed thing you’ve set up and they just immediately know why it’s there without question or concern.
Inducted as state chair not even 3 days ago and I already have my first night of tossing/turning due to my mind tumbling with ideas and plans.
Guess my day is starting at 0330, hello Georgia I am awake for you, let’s get this Medical Association morning bread.

I want to go to every conference, learn to do every procedure, do all the research, and learn every single thing while I’m in medical school, but time is precious and in my second year I’m going to do a better job protecting it.
This tweet is for the content creators that have been teaching about misrepresentation of race and race-based diagnostic bias in medicine:
I owe you everything and I can’t thank you enough as I begin medical school.
I had a male classmate call a female classmate “hostile,” saying she had an attitude when she was holding someone in class leadership accountable for their position and actions. I shouldn’t have to say this, but stop confusing being held accountable with being disrespected.
Stuck between the crossroads of wanting to already be in rotations so bad and/or living in the moment because I’ve worked my whole life to be here.
