The scenario is exceptionally unlikely to have a kid go running out into highway traffic, like they might in a more residential circumstance. I’m not debating the law, because yes they absolutely should be stopping, but it seems pretty clear they’ve manufactured the entire thing to maximize tickets and by proxy revenue. Here in Texas we had a contracted company that installed red light cams (with shared revenue to municipalities) and it turns out they significantly shortened the yellow light times to increase citations. After a few years and investigations millions had to be paid back and the cams were completely banned in the state. This School Bus sting reminds of that since they appear to be stacking the deck for money, not for educating the public or promoting safety.

We can make massive cuts to foreign aid and instead spend some of that money at home. I don’t give a damn if Iraq gets a local variant of Sesame Street, or if Wuhan gets dance workshops. Since agencies like the department of education showed up in 1980 have students in the US become far more competitive with peer nations? We spend more per student than almost everyone. Where’s the results? It’s not just about the total spending it’s the terrible ROI Americans are getting from all that spending.

You think they had kids stuck in the bus waiting while they pulled over car after car after car? It was a designed enforcement action. The bus was empty. The clip shows multiple instances with a dozen police vehicles. If you think that happened organically, I’ve got a bridge to sell you.
