Last Saturday, I had the honor of listening to people’s views on proposed legislation to establish Sáttítla National Monument. I met people from many walks of life with many perspectives who shared a sense of the significance of Sáttítla and the importance of protecting it.

I met the sweetest 4th grader yesterday at @USDA's Holiday Reception. Rose, from Kenai, Alaska, won this year's essay contest and was selected among many other fourth graders from around AK to come to Washington, DC, to read her essay and light the USDA tree.

In my role as Deputy Secretary, I've seen firsthand the amazing agricultural research happening at Tribal colleges. Incorporating these institutions into the land-grant system has allowed @USDA to invest more in maintaining the languages and cultures of Native communities.

I had the chance to chat with some wonderful Senate Ag Interns and Professional Staff earlier today! The future of agriculture is definitely in great hands.

At @USDA, we’re working with farmers and ranchers to strengthen regional food systems because we know that no matter where you live, you should be able to get affordable, fresh, and healthy food close to home.

When we invest in domestic supply chains, we drive down costs for families and create good-paying jobs in rural communities. Today, I visited Haen Meat Packing in Kaukauna, WI which is receiving funding from today's $20.2 million investment in Local Meat Capacity Grants.

A big thank you to the Dramm family for hosting me and showing me around your facility today! Through the Fertilizer Production Expansion Program (FPEP), DRAMM is modernizing its equipment to invest in climate-smart, sustainable practices.

Today, Steven Stierwalt was kind enough to show @RepNikkiB, @ILSoybean, and me around his farm. There, we discussed the Biden-Harris Administration’s historic investments in climate-smart conservation focused agriculture.

We know that when we invest in clean, affordable energy, rural communities thrive. Last week in Colorado, I highlighted the Biden-Harris Administration’s nearly $2.5 billion investment @TriStateGT.

At @USDA, we are partnering with rural ag producers, like those I chatted with today in Central Illinois, to increase the supply of biofuels made here in the U.S., lower energy costs for American families, strengthen our energy independence, & create jobs.

.@TriStateGT’s award is expected to reduce electricity rates 10% for cooperative members by 2034, amassing $430M in rural consumer benefits over 10 years. This investment will reduce climate pollution by nearly 5.8M tons annually and expected to create more than 2,000 jobs.
