Tomorrow marks 35 years for me covering sports in Milwaukee and Wisconsin. Grateful to have survived major neck surgery, a stroke and being let go. Still lucky enough to be standing. I appreciate it.
The first game I did radio color for the Bucks was November 1, 1996 in Philadelphia. The Bucks won a game which marked the pro debuts of Ray Allen and Allen Iverson. Tuesday night, an experience I've never had in the 25 years. The Bucks try to clinch the NBA title.
Hank Aaron's death is a severe blow to all of America. In Milwaukee, he led the Braves to the 1957 World Series title. His home run on Sep 23, 1957 clinched the pennant. He finished his career with the Brewers and hit his 755th and final home run at County Stadium.
I am thankful that
@nbated
and I were able to work together for all those years and go out with a Bucks title. Thanks to everyone who listened through the years. Have a great Thanksgiving.
35 years ago today (1984) was my first day as a paid sportscaster at WMBD in Peoria. I know how hard it is to break into this business and stay in it. Amazed and grateful to still be doing this. Thanks to all who've been part of the journey.
I know the Packers loss is painful. Just want to salute
@620wtmj
for 92 years of carrying Packers football. I know they’ll be fine and
@TheGameMKE
will do a great job with the Packers. You can’t tell the history of the team without including

.
Today in 1996: Packers clinch second-straight NFC Central title with 41-6 rout of Broncos. Brett Favre throws four TDs, with three going to Antonio Freeman to highlight his nine-catch, 175-yard day. Green Bay's defense limits Denver to 176 total yards and forces three turnovers.
October 10th is probably the most important date for Milwaukee baseball history. It’s the date when the 1957 Braves won the World Series and the 1982 Brewers clinched the American League pennant.
43 years ago tonight, Marquette won the 1977 NCAA Championship in Al McGuire's last game as coach. 67-59 over North Carolina in Atlanta. Butch Lee scored 19 points. Bo Ellis and Jim Boylan each added 14.
Today in 1997: Packers advance to Super Bowl XXXI with 30-13 win over Panthers in NFC Championship Game. After a rough start, Brett Favre completes 19-of-21 for 277 yards and two TDs over the final three quarters. Dorsey Levens piles up 205 total yards and a TD on 15 touches.
Corbin Burnes of the Brewers has won the National League Cy Young Award. When the Brewers were in the American League, Rollie Fingers won the Cy Young in 1981 and Pete Vuckovich in 1982.
Packers coach Matt LaFleur: There's a potential that David Bakhtiari, Jaire Alexander and Za'Darius Smith could be active Sunday night. See how the week goes.
If the Packers don’t take a receiver in the first round tonight, remember that past second selections included Davante Adams, Randall Cobb, Jordy Nelson and Greg Jennings.
The father of Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, Jim Burrow, was an 8th round draft pick by the Packers in 1976 as a defensive back out of Nebraska. He ended up playing in three games for the Packers.
The death of Ted Thompson is a time to be thankful for everything he did for the Packers. That's more than just the drafting of Aaron Rodgers. Many key players on the roster for Sunday's NFC Championship Game were brought to Green Bay by Thompson.
One of the Bengals offensive linemen filling in so well today is Max Scharping from Green Bay Southwest High School. He was waived by the Houston Texans.
Packers defensive coordinator Joe Barry after today’s padded practice on Za’Darius Smith and Jaire Alexander: “I think today they stacked another block towards playing.”
Budenholzer on the Wisconsin state legislature: "Really disappointing...Don't claim to know everything about politics...Seems like there's work to be done and they're not doing it."
No one was more devoted to the Milwaukee Bucks than John Steinmiller. I thoroughly enjoyed working with him. His professionalism will be missed.
My sympathies to his family.
From the Green and Gold Gala last night at Lambeau Field. I'm reminded that Cherry Starr and Bart Starr Jr. are remarkable people. Former teammates Bill Curry and Dave Robinson shared the lasting impact Bart had on them. Lynn Dickey called Starr "the best man he ever met."
Tonight,
@paschketball
has announced he will retire at the end of the season as the Bucks TV voice after 35 years. Congratulations Jim on a marvelous run and hope you enjoy health and happiness.
The Bucks have never lost a best of 7 series after winning the first two games. 8-0. The only time they were pushed to seven games in that scenario was 2001 against Charlotte. After going up 2-0, the Bucks fell behind 3 games to 2 before winning 4-3.
Aaron Rodgers says he appreciates the way Packers GM Brian Gutekunst has included him in conversations and process this year. Says he’s just savoring this year and will make a quick decision about his future after the season.
Bucks are getting a special person in Jrue Holiday. When his wife Lauren was battling a brain tumor, he stepped away from basketball to be with her. She's fine now. They have a four year old daughter and a recently born son. Jrue donated his bubble salary to social justice funds.
I know he’s a Cubs announcer now, but Pat Hughes was a terrific Brewers announcer with Bob Uecker. This weekend, Pat deservedly joins Bob in Cooperstown. Congratulations!
Congratulations to TMJ4 Sports Producer Rick Rietbrock for his well-deserved Silver Circle Emmy Award. It was my privilege to work with him many years. Thanks to
@lanceallan
for his efforts to recognize Rick.
The Packers just drafted a kicker. I don’t know what Mason Crosby’s desires are. He’s an unsigned unrestricted free agent. He’s the all-time leading scorer in Packers history and deserves tremendous respect as a player and as a person.
The Dodgers just announced that Vin Scully has passed away at the age of 94. I don’t know much, but, in my opinion, nobody did baseball play-by-play any better.
On this date in 1971, the Bucks won the NBA title in Baltimore. I will never forget that team. Kareem later told me he partied that night in Baltimore with then-Colt Bubba Smith.
Georgia's Tom Crean, tells
@SpectrumNews1WI
that he is not pursuing the Marquette job.
"My focus is building this back up and we are close to getting there. We love it here. I will always love Marquette and I'm very interested in who gets it...That's the extent of it."
Cobb on mentoring Amari Rodgers: "I hope I can be what Greg Jennings and Donald Driver were for me...
I'm a piece to the puzzle...I don't care about snaps...I'm here to win a Super Bowl."
Malcolm Brogdon on his return to Milwaukee with the Pacers to face the Bucks: "Lot of good memories. Love those guys. New opportunity being a leader. This is what every NBA player wants. I felt like it was time to move on. (Indiana) is a great fit for me. Fans here were amazing."
Bob Uecker deserves every accolade he gets. Amazing run. Thanks for the entertainment. He makes it look easy and it isn't. Several years ago, I was lucky enough to fill in and work a game with him. I consider it a real career hilite and privilege.
Assuming the leagues can play, Friday July 31st will be quite a day.
Brewers home opener against the Cardinals--without fans--at Miller Park in afternoon and Bucks resume schedule that night in Orlando against the Celtics.
On the Packers Radio Network at 10 am before the Packers host Washington here at Lambeau Field.

I have only gained more respect for J.J. Watt as I’ve watched him handle difficult season with the Cardinals on “Hard Knocks.” He has made Wisconsin proud not only with his career, but with his character.
