I am heartbroken about the loss of Dr. Mark Edwin Shaffrey, a brilliant neurosurgeon and friend whose leadership as chair of UVA Neurosurgery was matched only by his dedication to his patients and to mentoring future leaders. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

It was a definite highlight for the UVA School of Medicine to honor Dr. Vivian Pinn with an amazing portrait painted by Jonathan Linton.
Today, we unveiled Dr. Vivian Pinn's portrait in Pinn Hall, named to honor her trailblazing work in medicine and science. Her leadership in medical education and advocacy for diversity and gender equity in the field paved the way for countless others. @UVAMedAlum
