Today, I am rededicating myself to pushing the government, the private health care industry, and civil society to ensure that Black people have full access to prevention, care, and treatment. Our lives are on the line.

I am grateful for the hard work of the Aliveness Project MN, Clare Housing, and many other HIV counselors, providers, and educators for their commitment to uplifting and supporting community members living with HIV.

Black gay and bi men are at higher risk of HIV/AIDS. They face numerous barriers to accessing housing, care, and treatment; along with significant amounts of stigma. We simply can and must do better.

Working in this neighborhood for years, I know the closure of businesses over here will have dramatic impacts. I look forward to working with neighbors and council members on reimagining what an active, safe, and accessible Stevens Square can look like.
