We’re repeatedly told, “You are the average of the 5 people you associate with most.” My question is how diverse are those 5 people—not only visibly, but ideologically.

Dehumanization is a mental trick that allows us to justify the unthinkable and we’re all susceptible to it.

It’s become trendy to dismiss the importance of IQ. It’s right to say that IQ is woefully insufficient for being successful in our increasingly diverse, automated world. Bu IQ is the strongest predictor of problem-solving, critical thinking, pattern recognition, and reasoning.

Last week I was on a flight that had to make an emergency landing. We lost an engine mid-flight. It ended up being an uneventful landing but there’s nothing like an experience like that to make you stop and think about “life” for a moment…which brought this quote to mind.

@SahilBloom @JohnDeere I love the way you talk about being a loving dad. How do you reconcile putting your son’s face and name all over social media when he’s had no voice in that decision? This is NOT a cloaked rebuke. I’m genuinely interested in how you’ve worked through that dilemma.

Opposites attract? In reality we prefer to be with people like us. This study found that for more than 80% of traits analyzed – from political views to drug taking and the age at which people first had sex – partners were remarkably similar. #sameDNA
