Spring forward for Daylight Saving Time means we will go from a sunset Saturday evening of 6:43 pm to a sunset of 7:44pm Sunday evening. I like it better when it is dark early, and I'm not ashamed to say it. Who's with me?!
@DavidKarnes3
My 90 year old dad is using his “word-make-bigger machine” to read the Bible to me. Picture of mom on the right. Also the clock he always tells me the history of when it chimes. …every 15 minutes. Lol. Good stuff.
I just can’t even express how fortunate I am to be working with this amazing group of people at
@WRCB
. No better way to start the second half of what I am SURE will be a century (at least) of life. Thank you all so much
#OneYearCloserToDead
Most important thing I’ve learned about brand new
@WRCB
meteorologist,
@chayneswx
…NOT a fan of
#pumpkinspice
. Not sure of his stance on puppies. So far, that is the only flaw I can find with this amazing addition to the
@WRCBweather
team.
I am glad to know him as not just an excellent meteorologist, but also a great man of faith, family, and community. I am so proud to be able to share space with him on his last day. Tune in to
@WRCBtv
at 5 for a one hour goodbye special for the one and only
@PaulBarys
Such a treat to go with Denise Karnes to see the
@ChattLookouts
home opener tonight. Had to leave early for bedtime (and it started raining), but they were ahead 2 to 1 when I left. Ms. Wanda has been handing out the programs for years and is a Chattanooga institution.
@WRCB
We’re expecting 2-4” of snow tomorrow…. THE PERFECT TIME to tell
@DavidKarnes3
someone hacked his Twitter and is tweeting a guaranteed promise of 18-24” of snow.😬😬
My man
@chayneswx
heard and chimed in too. David’s reaction
“YOU’RE THE WORST” ⬇️⬇️
@Local3News
Hurricane Ian has rapidly intensified into a 155mph monster category 4 (almost5) storm just 77 miles from North Port, Fl. This is devastating. The winds, certainly, but even worse the storm surge and the rain. Pray hard for Florida, y’all. David Karnes
Whenever someone leaves

it is sad, but when a great reporter/anchor/coworker/friend like

leaves you are losing a ridiculously nice man of great character, and that is hard to replace. Congrats, Tim, and have a great time at

. I can also not say enough about the amazing athletes from
@UTChattanooga
who were there as “buddies” for the evening. They really are an amazing group of young people.
@WRCB
@JoiDukesTV
Joi you have handled this perfectly. It amazes me how cruel, socially inept, misguided, evil some can be. This woman honestly sounds like she’s TRYING to hurt you. You are a strong woman and I am glad that young ladies like my two daughters have women like you to to look up to.
What, these old things?? Thank you, Chattanooga!!! So proud of our
@WRCB
news (Best Local TV News) and
@WRCBweather
(Best Local Weather) teams. Special shout out to one of my media mentors,
@DAVIDCARROLL3
(Best TV Personality, Best Chattanooga’s).
Throwing cold water into the air versus throwing hot water. The air is cold and bone dry so the near boiling water easily throws out water vapor as serious steam. It also looked like there was a little crystallization.
@WRCBweather
@WRCB
What a beautiful thing to come home to. A big THANK YOU to all the
@EPB_Chattanooga
linemen who worked in sub freezing temps and biting winds to get things cranking again. Also, because I called in the outage they personally called me to make sure all was well.

convalescing comfortably at home after a minor surgery. He’s totally rocking the old school walker complete with the “no-scratch” tennis balls. He’ll be back the middle of the week. Like his page and wish him well!!

Okay guys. It doesn’t get much more serious than this. Tomorrow afternoon / night PLEASE know your plan if a tornado warning is issued. No mobile homes. Go to the lowest, most inside part of your sturdy structure. Program your weather radio. Download the WRCB weather app.
SEVERE WEATHER THREAT for Thursday is increasing. Chattanooga & westward are under a Level 4 risk for WIDESPREAD severe storms likely. This is uncommon in our area, & everyone should take it seriously. Ingredients look to be in place that were not there last week 1/
So my MINIVAN is in the shop for a few days so I decided to rent a small compact car from Enterprise.
Enterprise guy: Mr. Karnes, I am so sorry. We actually don’t have any compact cars. For the same price would a sports car be acceptable?
Me: That… is acceptable.
The instruction was, “Give me your best, ‘I’m glad it’s the weekend!’ face.” Who won?
@CarolineWRCB
@LoriWRCB
or me? Honestly, I feel I was the only one in the true spirit of the competition.
@WRCB
The creek in my backyard is running a little high due to the recent rainfall. Oh, wait a minute. That’s right. I don’t HAVE a creek in my backyard.
@WRCBweather
Had a great time today with the third graders at Nolan Elementary School on Signal mountain. Thank you guys so much for making me feel welcomed. That is a crazy smart group of kids.

@pefchattanooga
Who's ready??... A big cold front looks like it will move in toward the end of next week, and bring in some much cooler and drier air for NEXT weekend.
We have talked about it all fall and my goodness did
@DavidKarnes3
come through in the playoffs.
Was it the bag of milk massages? The straight leg kick?
Or is this man just a different type of human? Two claps for your chief 👏🏽 👏🏽 Chattanooga!

I love working with this amazing team! Nobody works harder than these folks. I am so proud to be affiliated with all of you

What a great time at McConnell Elementary School this morning spending time with Ms. Souza’s 3rd graders. Polite, will behaved, and laughed at my jokes.

My understanding is they are running a special. You can board your pets here during the rain, but only if you have two of each kind. 😂. OK, back to work.

Be praying for the folks in Middle TN. The red and yellow splotches are radar images of debris being picked up and tossed around by a tornado. Looks rough in Hendersonville, Gallatin, south of Ashland City, and near Springfield.

Why
@AlisonPryorWRCB
is the most awesome
@WRCB
employee EVER, hands down. She is actually watching and TAKING NOTES on the required “how to use a fire extinguisher” video all new employees are required to watch. Nice start, Alison. Nice start indeed.
Constant coughing, sneezing, drainage, watery eyes? This may be why. Allergy counts SOARING with the latest count from the 100s into the 4000s. I expect it to stay pretty high through the weekend. Share with your friends.
Wet weather tip

. When going through the drive-through today, turn off your windshield wipers so you don’t soak the person handing you your food.

VERY preliminary, but Monday morning we may get some flurries in the valley, and light snow showers in the mountains. Mtn. accumulations of about 1/2" are possible. Stay tuned!
It almost came to fisticuffs in the

hotdog. I say boiling is fine (I could even slum it and microwave), but most of my snobby coworkers are grilling purists. What say you?? Best way to cook a hot dog is…?
Just a reminder IF a tornado develops know where your safe place will be BEFORE the storm arrives. Generally a basement or an interior room on the lowest level of your building is ideal. If you live in a mobile home, hang out with a friend for the day.
Getting in line early with my photographer,

Here’s an idea I learned for folks evacuating
#HurricanceFlorence
. Freeze a cup of water, put a coin on top, leave it in the freezer. When you return, if ice is frozen and coin is at the bottom, then power has gone out, come back on and food in freezer is not safe.
