Rarely seen in-action stills of Syrian Army Panzer IV tanks (of mainly G, H and J variants) on maneuvers, late 50s/early 60s. These tanks were used during the Water War and the Six Day War. The tank in pic 1 seems to be missing the turret Schürzen and is armed with a Breda-SAFAT

The actually last unit to (formally - see 2017-2023 appearances) operate the T-62 tank in the Russian Army was the Siberian Military District‘s 131st Mot.-Rifle Division, only retiring the type in 2009. Below images show tanks of that unit‘s 272nd Guards Baikal Regiment.

Comoros, February 2008: After an uprising on the Island of Anjouan, the government acquired two helicopters from Ukraine including this Mi-8. Without bothering to repaint it, the local army pressed it into service, first for leaflet drops, later as part of the successful assault.

42nd Motor-Rifle Division T-62 and T-62M tanks based out of Khankala, near Grozny, Chechnya during the early 2000s. The unit would famously be involved in the 2008 Russian-Georgian War over South Ossetia, and was one of the last two to formally operate T-62s.

Something a bit different: The Chinese PLAAF uses a large number of underground aircraft shelters, usually built into mountainsides. The largest of these can hold numerous H-6 Badger bombers, at a wingspan of over 30m!

The BMP-3 in the First Chechen War The 74th Motorized Rifle Brigade deployed to the Chechen border in December 1994 and was seconded 31 BMP-3 baseline variants from the 228th Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment. Most had the late-Soviet three-color camo applied. 1/

More obscure Hips: This Mi-8T was operated by the Military of Guyana. The three helicopters were acquired from the USSR in 1985 in a barter deal for bauxite. Due to airframe life exhaustion and lack of spare parts all were retired by 1990.

Highly interesting photo from 2022 (credits in pic) of an Armenian Air Force Mi-24R attack helicopter seemingly not overhauled since the 2020 War, wearing large ID crosses, heavily weathered paint and a small eagle head. IMO it’s 47 blue. Anyone got more Hind pics from the War?

Afghan T-62s are rather well known, but this pic is a rarity nonetheless: The BMP-1 is wearing a Taliban camouflage pattern adopted sometime in the late 90s, also seen on T-55/62 and ZSU-23-4. This is the first time I’m seeing a BMP-1 in that scheme however.

Bosnian Army AMX-30B (some say S or B2) . 32 (some say 36) were received from the UAE after the Yugoslav Wars had ended. The barracks images are taken in Tuzla, but today the remaining tanks should be stationed at Dubrave. Would love some advice on variant ID for these.

Mil Mi-8 in Cape Verde: with this Air Force only forming in 1982 and already defunct by 1993, not much is known about it. The three Mils were leased from Russia, two Mi-8Ts and a Mi-8MT (Lobo do Mar - sea wolf) and were mainly used in a quasi-civil SAR role. No serials carried.

@joeblillib4090 This is completely incorrect. This MiG was painted as an advertisement for Eduard Scale Models, with a made-up history of a Central African conflict. During the Congo War, no MiG-21 scored any victories, with only Angola employing any at all.

Some less-frequently seen images of Malian T-54B tanks. Interestingly, these tanks feature upgrades such as fender stowage boxes of T-55A-style that imply they were most likely delivered only in the 1980s. So far, an exact delivery date has not been found.

Wrecked Afghan FT-17 tank of french WW1 vintage filmed recently at the Southern entrance to the Wakhan Corridor opposite from the Tajik border. Interesting to see this old tank this far up in the mountains. Seems to have suffered catastrophic damage, but no date or details known.

Beautiful photo set of the DR Congo Air Force from the early 2000s. Mi-8T was sourced from Libya, as were some of the Mi-24s, while others were acquired from Eastern Europe. These saw action towards the later stages of the Second Congo War, usually maintained by Zimbabwean crews.

Very rarely seen East German NVA T-55AM2 tanks of Czechoslovak manufacture. As they were delivered only in the late 1980s, some received the rare ‚Verzerrungsanstrich‘ three-color camouflage, although in these specific images it could also just be field-applied mud camo.

Rarely seen early T-72 Ural (mod.1972) in Azerbaijan Army service, 2020. This initial T-72 variant is distinguished by the searchlight on the left side of the gun as well as the aerial positioned in front, and the lack of KMT mine-roller attachment points. Probably reserve unit.

Moroccan-crewed T-54/55 tanks (supplied by Syria) in positions along the Golan Heights ceasefire line following the end of the 1973 Arab-Israeli War. At the time, Syria was being resupplied with tanks by the USSR, which explains the lack of camo.
