I have a website now. It's currently just a hub of links to things I've done, but I'll update it in the future with various writings and similar things.
@hitRECordJoe
That movie got me through being 15, I watched it maybe 20 times and once I finally realized it was Tom’s fault, it all clicked into place for me. Thank you for being a part of it, it sincerely helped me grow as a young man.

I’ll say the same thing I said walking out of Lion King-the designs are lazy and pointless but the actual work into putting the shit together is lovely. Vfx artists are awesome
@briamgilbert
Mr. Gilbert, in your announcement video on joining Polygon, you mentioned you wanted to make things that “helped an anxious guy like me feel at ease”. I am one of those anxious guys you helped bring joy and life. Best of luck in your endeavors. Godspeed, and thank you.
Doctor Strange 2 looks to be the fulfillment of everything Doctor Strange 1 could have been. Same with Thor 4 to Ragnarok. MCU movies might be a dime a dozen, but it looks like they’re now taking more consistent risks and fixing leaky patches. I’m very happy.
@samreich
Alright.

?? Best of luck sir. I’m sorry for your misfortune, and I wish you and the rest of the remaining team the absolute best in turning this around.
When I did some pieces for them, one of the editors just rewrote two paragraphs without my input or approval because I was too mean to Secret Life of Pets, and was going against the consensus. It’s a digital sweatshop that demands the soulless meat grinder never stops.
Since they decided to be trash when the man just died probably hours before this was published. I want to tell you two things about

1. I believe 95% of Their staff is white
2. They pay 10$ for articles. No more than 25$ from what I’ve heard
@VeeSquared92
@broderick
I like it! It’s messy, silly, and paints with a jackhammer, but if nothing else it’s about as bluntly political as any massive American show can be and that’s really refreshing to have something that doesn’t pull its punches
@redcandlegames
Whenever it gets released on whatever platform, I know people will flock to your work. Both of your titles are spectacular, and I hope more people continue to recognize that despite GOG's decision. A tip of the hat to you all.
@Klee_FilmReview
Ennio Morricone. Cinema Paradiso is my favorite score of all time. Shout out to Michael Giacchino though for being the first composer (outside of the aforementioned two) that I really followed as a kid.
@LongMacVampyr
You’re right, but also the thing that OP misses is that…yeah you get far in the movies by being pleasant to work with, people remember that stuff
Almost all the D23 stuff looks great and if it wasn’t all coming from a single corporation I would be excited for almost all of it but it’s impossible for me to shake the feeling that this shouldn’t be happening the way it is.
Shout out to everyone calling out the Hollywood Reporter review for being super creepy about a sixteen year old girl in a movie based on a kid’s show. Lots of things suck but people coming together to defend an innocent product from cruel people is kinda nice.
@school_ipad
My brain oscillating between “the gig economy is broken and any not perfect responses is immoral” and “this person should not be allowed to interact with another human being”.
@kernetcetera
I feel sorry for their teachers more. The amount of back-breaking work it takes to be positive on stuff like that with a straight face...the point is god bless my film teachers for lying to me.
Fuck this show and the ground it stands on. It knows its target audience is tweenage children and no amount of warnings is going to stop them from watching on an unsupervised platform. This is sensationalist, Nick at Nite storytelling with graphic suicide and rape scenes.
Like I get it, but if you’re so naive/spineless that you think showing smoking in a show set in 1980s middle America is a problem, but graphically showing a teenager’s suicide in a different show is completely fine, maybe you shouldn’t be making shows. Or breathing.
@joshuatrank
Holy shit. I know you’ve been a bit of a meme recently on here, but publicly coming out against a creative peer like this is respectable as hell.
Probably any movie people are tired nowadays and it's hard to consistently watch things without feeling a little fatigues maybe they just had a bad day at work boom easy joke and I didn't make anyone feel like shit for liking something that literally 95% of the population likes.
The most annoying people in the world love to say there is no objective difference between good art and bad art
So I made a list of 15
Good Art v/s Bad Art: The Masterlist of 15 Differences👇🏻
Censorship: bad
Self-censorship: not censorship
Editing out material that is scientifically proven to be harmful: good
If you wanna watch a child die so badly, go to therapy or torrent it
@Klee_FilmReview
Blindspotting. I walked into it at Nashville Film Fest mostly pissed that the festival didn’t have Sorry to Bother You, but I liked the Hamilton guy, so why not. Ended up one of my all time favorite films.
Ah yes, the artistic and dour action-horror game that strives for realism and the game where you play as a super soldier in a green robot suit fighting aliens don’t look the same. I am very smart.
@blockbustedpod
Man Stephen Colbert was right there. Not always funny, not always right, not even always entertaining, but I believe him when he speaks
Here’s to TSV, the only lead character stupid enough to pump his body full of poison and hide out in an alien spaceship to blow it up. Saying it out loud, it was a deeply weird story, huh?
Hey everyone, I have some unfortunate news that’s not fun to talk about.
Due to extraneous circumstances in the industry right now, we have decided to put TSV on an indefinite hiatus.
I feel like I say this ad nauseam, but this journey has truly been a life changing experience.
Cool they’re doing this with just normal HBO shows now, awesome. People are just going to straight up refuse to work with HBO at this point if this keeps happening.
@marysuewriter
Literally the most valuable skill I learned in college is “when a choice is made, it is a deliberate choice, figure out how to make it work”. So many things were written based on decisions I made in a split-second when I was asked something I didn’t prepare for.
@CW_CrazyXGF
This show means more to me than any other show. I’m both sad to see it go and overjoyed that it was allowed to reach an end. Everyone involved made something utterly sublime and should be so proud of what they’ve done.
@ashleylynch
It terrifies me to see this room full of people telling someone so passionately discussing a very personal and real response as both a creative and viewer, with "well let's consider that it's just not your style".
To anybody who follows this: do me a solid and find the most important person in your life and tell them you love them. Because life is hard and the impossible doesn't just become possible because you want it to be. So please. For me. You don't want to feel like it was unsaid.
I haven't seen the Godfather but my god I can't think of something less relatable to a general audience than an old, Italian man's death influencing his son to take over the family business lmao nice try
Kinda the last real milestone of me growing up. I’m 21. At the end of the year I’ll be a high school graduate. I’m terrified and so grateful for the people I’ve met that have helped me get here. I didn’t think I’d ever see this day. Thank you. I love you all.
He would be regarded as one of the defining cinematographers of the modern era if he just played to his strengths. A stellar craftsman who has never written a line of believable dialogue or directed a scene above par.
Here's the thing about Suspiria/The Last Jedi/Captain Marvel/whatever flavor of the week contentious film: it doesn't matter. We share our thoughts when we see it and then we all just need to move on. I'm tired of running around the same movies over and over again. Let's be kind.
For the first time in what feels like ten years, I’m starting to feel like me again. All this week I’ve woken up and felt how Davey is supposed to feel at the start of the day. I’m just really happy about that and wanted to share that w people.
Head of middle school got arrested for soliciting a prostitute that was an undercover cop. Head of upper school was removed by psychotic headmaster. Religious leader was fired/left after making advances on a 16 year old girl.
@Blockbustedpod
Steve Rogers looking down the fourth wall yelling “A flag is a piece of cloth” is one of the most inspiring things I’ve ever seen and it makes me want to be better
@Blockbustedpod
Class divides and increased rates of depression amongst young people lead to a desire for a "better you" to take over and have a better life, although that brings the fear of losing authenticity and humanity?
So I just delivered a pizza where the delivery note was to sing a showtune as I arrived, so I got to the door singing “Settle for Me” from Crazy-Ex-Girlfriend and I can now say that I unequivocally love my job.
My surprising dislike of Under the Silver Lake and Hollywood this year coupled with my love of Ford v Ferrari and The Irishman has led me to conclude that I am not a Film Bro as I may have thought...I am a Film Dad.
Anton Yelchin. That one still feels different, years later. The one celebrity death where I remember distinctly where I was and what I felt when I found out.
@blockbustedpod
The concept of a “nerd” fundamentally doesn’t exist anymore (science fiction action comedies rule cinemas and the most popular show on TV is either about dragons or a D&D group), and I would personally get shoved into a locker every day for the rest of my life to prevent thus
@ashmatxxxxx
Quality makes the best film. Culture makes the best picture. Best picture will always be a reflection of the world as it is, the thing we can come together to rally behind. Quality has too many things we all differ on. Best Picture is us writing our history in real time.
Okay guys, y'all had your fun with the punching movie earlier, but I swear to god if one of you ruins the start of my summer movie season I'm gonna flip.

I love my friends very much. If you're seeing this, you're probably a friend of mine, or at least an acquaintance, and I hope you're having a magnificent day.
@blockbustedpod
An act of violence on my heart, perhaps. A declaration of war against my belief that a perfect trilogy can’t have a perfect epilogue, as well. If all violence were as profound, god bless us all. (Toy Story 4 good is what I’m saying)
Release The Hunt. Stop pissing yourself about video games. Ban assault rifles. Shut down white supremacist forums online. People are angry because this is all so easy.
Rewatched Arrival w my mom. It’s easy to forget with all the heavy emotion and hard science just how optimistic about the human condition it is as a film. I’m kicking myself for not watching it sooner in quarantine. What a special beacon of raw humanity.
