Oh no… A reporter asked
#Buccaneers
head coach Todd Bowles about how the team is preparing to get acclimated to the weather in Detroit ahead of Sunday’s game.
The Lions have played in a dome for nearly 50 years.
There have been some allegations surrounding social media that the Temple Men's Basketball program has been involved in some level of match-fixing.
Here is a thread of what we currently know:
There is one eye-popping stat from Thursday's game in question. Temple was outrebounded 41-19 in the loss. The -22 rebounding margin is the worst for Temple in 150 games, dating back to a -26 margin vs. Cincinnati on January 27, 2019.
Temple hosted UAB on Thursday night. As of 1:24 p.m. ET, the spread was UAB -2.5. By 2:29 p.m. ET, the spread had ballooned to -8, a move that is typically unheard of this late in the college basketball season without any meaningful news or injuries.
Time will tell where this goes next, but this sounds like it may have some legs to it. And, perhaps, the sports betting industry may have flown a bit too close to the sun with how intertwined it has gotten with sports themselves.
The move was so drastic and unusual that it caught the attention of U.S. Integrity, who has since alerted casinos that the game was flagged for unusual activity, per
@ByPatForde
. UAB went on to beat Temple 100-72, easily covering the spread.
This is not a typical match-fixing allegation you hear from an angry bettor or someone on the wrong side of an outcome. You need the pregame odds movement to go with it. And it seems like someone may have messed up badly here by not covering their tracks enough.
@TonyReali
I see what you're saying but a counterargument is the stage it brings these smaller schools. Nationally-televised standalone game they actually have a chance of winning vs. getting blown out on a packed Thurs/Fri slate.

I have zero affiliation with the school, simply a huge college hoops fan. Between the Pac-12 drama, Myles Rice’s incredible story, and stuff like this, I’m not sure how you can’t root for WSU. I really love this team
Super weird ending to Charlotte/Rice... Quincy Olivari makes his second FT, then the clock runs for 1.1 seconds during the dead ball. Nobody says anything, Charlotte inbounds and the pass is deflected. How did nobody notice??

I would far rather see those extra bids go to the 2-3 inevitable

seeds in mid-major conferences that fail to win their tournament. Feels much more deserving than a sub .500 Big 12 team, but we know exactly who they'll choose at the end of the day.

“The London club feel negotiating a deal for Rashford is virtually impossible though – so that transfer no longer seems an option."
Please stop clickbaiting.
Western Carolina's Russell Jones in five games this season:
152 MP
68 PTS
12 REBS
7 AST
1 TO
53.2% FG
55.2% 3PT
The ninth-highest offensive rating in the country, per KenPom.
There are very few mid-major backcourts better than the Catamounts' this season.
And that will do it for me. My final sign-off on a Marist men's basketball game as I will be graduating in May. I appreciate the platform I have been given by
@CFMarist
the past three years to be able to write for and cover a D1 program. Memories I will never forget.

His mentality is the best we've had at the club in a long time. I'm glad he's still apart of the squad. We clearly need depth after last week's embarrassment, and he could still provide a worthy rotational piece in the midfield.
On a personal note, as a senior at Marist who is in his third year of covering Marist men's basketball, it's unbelievable to see how far this program has come from just a few years ago.
Couldn't be happier for an amazing group of players, coaches, and staff within the program.
Asking because I genuinely don’t know: Why do we not have required injury reports in college basketball? This Vescovi guessing game less than an hour before tip is so odd
@JonRothstein
The massive platform for the 16 seeds who will inevitably get smushed in the least watched first round games is great though. Gives them a spotlight they would never get usually. Does a .500 ACC team really need another nationally televised game?
I could not feel worse for this kid. Bronny is so far away from being prepared for NBA-level competition that this would implode any shot he has at the next level.
For anyone who watched him with an objective lens last year, he needs another year in college at the minimum.
The Lakers are open to drafting Bronny James this June to help fulfill LeBron James’ dream of playing with his son, team sources tell

,

Bronny announced earlier this month that he will enter the 2024 NBA Draft.

This is why I pick my automatic qualifiers via highest KenPom ranking. Choosing whoever is in first to be in your bracket is not the most likely outcome.
