Decided to sell the cows and have started growing vegetables instead. I have also applied for the organic scheme as this will really add value to my produce. Wish me luck.
Took the advice of
@jamesbourke13
and sprayed some paddocks with milk in the hope of feeding soil bacteria. To say I'm shocked with the response would be an understatement. Grazed 20 days. Sprayed 19 days. Last N application was the first week of April. Will be doing more.
Slurry seperator here for the week. Delighted with how it's going. Stacking p&k for targeted nutrient application as compost to outfarm while leaving liquid behind for home ground.
Up to my eyeballs in sh1t in the pouring rain while pumping slurry and a Jehovah's witness calls into the yard wanting to talk about the meaning of life. Thought it was a very appropriately timed visit.
We have been selectively breeding cows to produce 6 teats instead of 4. Cows with 6 teats can produce 50% more than their peers. Peer reviewed data suggests 6 titters produce milk with a much lower carbon footprint, meaning it's good for the farmer & good for the planet.
Gorse destruction for miles and miles on the M8 motorway by
@TIINews
. What's worse is they gave the summer spraying it with stone drains beneath heading straight to watercourses. Madness for what is idle ground. If a farmer was doing this and there would be uproar.
Magpies are truly horrible birds. Broke up 3 of them attacking this starling in the yard. Had him pinned down and were going for the eyes. Should make a reasonable recovery with some tlc.
Rug is been pulled out from under young farmers who have made massive investments for their future on the back of government policy. A cow cull in everything but name.

First of the dairy and dairyx bulls off tomorrow. Ages 15 to 17 months. Very impressed with the performance of these. Where's that lad that referred to males from the dairy herd as "goats of animals". I want to show him these.
Data unveiled at COP27 has revealed the biggest individual greenhouse gas polluters in the world, including Ireland. Dublin Airport, and the aircraft operating in and out of there, is the largest polluter in the country. via

Perhaps it's time for an apology to the Kerry farmers for assuming they were burning these uplands?? Generating hate & hostility in these type of tweets.
The fires raging on some uplands across this island are appalling to see & devastating for wildlife. As Minister for Land Use & Biodiversity, I call on all farm organisations to publicly remind their upland members that this is illegal and highly destructive, and to be vigilant.
We'll have a quite day... Or not. Cow with a cut milk vein, blood gushing out of her, into the crush at lightning speed and held till vet showed up. No555 lives to fight another day.

And incase you just waking up and wondering what I'm talking about this is the original tweet by so called

. It has been deleted now but It just shows the poison that has seeped into the env sec to pass blame to dairy for everything.

Walking cows past neighbour's houses ATM and instead of complaints, I get compliments on cows condition and offers to stand in gaps if I need them. Can't beat good neighbours.
International media using file images of US feedlots and dairy barns when making reference to Irish Agriculture does a disservice to what Irish Dairy is truly about. Volume ⬆️
