In honor of
@levelsio
pivot into a fitness guru, I'm releasing a free chrome extension that blocks your internet every hour until you do 10 full real pushups on camera. DM or comment if you want to have free beta access this week.
Completely free and opensource demo in the
A visually impaired friend is one of the first people to get access to OpenAI's GPT4 Image Recognition. Something the rest of us won't have for another year. I have been testing it out to see what it can do
Dropping hats on you with AI
Here's a recap of all the AI projects this week and hype for all to be made next week. I will show how to make every single one

AI Shadow puppet shows of the future! Combining object detection from Roboflow with a Controlnet-scribble from Replicate to improve my terrible bunnies in realtime
I am going to continue launching a new AI startup every day until
@natfriedman
,
@garrytan
, and
@bhorowitz
lead my series B (I am skipping seed and A). You cannot stop me. Tomorrow's the one that will blow them away I can feel it

#1
on hackernews, I thought I would share my new business here. I am using AI to drop hats outside my window onto New Yorkers. We are already open
It turns out the best mix for workout detection is a mix of running object detection and keypoint detection at the same time. I haven't seen anyone else combine multiple models all running live in your browser before
Also I removed the creepy face dots, it was not motivating
Now the victory sign will send your whiteboard to OpenAI GPT4 to solve for you
I forgot what the ∑ symbols will do, someone more into math should try a formula
Next week I will beta test some hat drops. If you have a New York City head and are okay with a few beta tests, the hats will be free afterwards. DM / comment / sign up on the website. I will be reaching out to all soon
Dudes will literally change the trajectory of the world by waking up one day and saying "what if I got really into hats or something haha" and I think that's awesome
In 2021, I was put in the Asian Forbes 30 under 30. This was a bit confusing as I never applied, was not under 30, and was not even with that company anymore (I was actively suing them for fraud). I am also quite certain I’m not Asian.
@KennethCassel
I would love to see tiny robots fighting. I always thoughts megabots would have been successful if tiny and could do more matches / completely destroy eachother
This project is not done until the hats fall on my head without even looking up and no hands involved. Reworking the mechanism this weekend. I think I have solved it

We have automatic pushup counting!
It turns out to be almost exactly the same as situps except you just check when the elbows are below the shoulders.
Fortunately, with the beta testers this is the most reliable one to count from a large number of angles.
I just finished the first MVP (be kind) of my AI assisted jigsaw puzzle solver. Inspired by
@MarkRober
and
@ryanzip
.
I think rather than competing, AI could help us do important things like give us puzzle hints and gently shout at us.
Is anyone else interested in being Facetimed by lonely cats throughout the day?
made this app for all the cats I housesit, I want to name it "catcalling"
The rate of AI progress is fast, 8 days ago on r/ComputerVision subreddit:
The Poster: Need to count objects from these images with 99% accuracy. But there is no absolute dataset of this. Can anyone help me with it?
The Comments: As someone that has had to build high accuracy
One of the first failed iterations before hats was "Drip Coffee" with the idea of piping hot coffee going into the customer's open mouth. In the brainstorming phase there are no bad ideas.
Exactly 1 year of robot building. Up to the 6th iteration of the robot. In preparation to replace the 5th (mostly broken one) in our first optometry store
It has been 7 undefeated hours and I still haven't slept all night. I am disappointed with the competition. I am now giving everyone a chance with a staring contest.

Who is a worthy challenger?
We got AI counting abs!
Similar to squats, I found it works best with all the variations people can do by simply checking when your shoulders get above your knees.
Unlike squats, you could have gotten a free situp when you first sit down which I didn't like so now it checks
I made this AI Chrome extension (opensource!) that searches parts of videos I click on for more information.
I watching the Olympics all last week and had no idea who was becoming a meme or who anyone was really.
With this, I just click on them and it searches their face.
Everyone believes AI will replace us all. I don’t.
I'm testing who is more interesting.
Any tweet at my account with the word JamesGPT will automatically go to GPT4. The rest goes to me. We will both post equally. As usual, humanity gets a headstart.
I have been patiently waiting for the robot controlled "Robert Fried Chicken" to open in midtown for 18 months now. It's one of the only consumer robot arm restaurants to prove its profitability over 6 locations and not just be a gimmick.
I couldn't sleep so here's a live demo of elonman. It's an interactive comic maker where you can drag and drop pictures, videos, sound, youtube, AI images, to make comics & games.
Some random Spanish and Taiwanese school children have found it and I learned a lot about Leoparda
Playing around with facial search and found an Instagram photographer caught me eating pizza a year ago in the street and I never knew. Thanks
@sachaker
and also for not murdering me.

Have you ever had someone ruin an otherwise good video shot? I am using SAM2 to select and remove any disturbances and using generative AI inpainting to cover it up.
It works best with disturbances in background more than the foreground.
Despite repeated tries, Meta's SAM2 is still no match at the tracking a cat can do in realtime. There are still other uses video segmentation can be great for
AI Chrome Extension v2 will now block your internet every hour until you do pushups, squats or crunches on camera.
Now we have the full workout. The crunches are the least reliable but its good enough for beta testers.
Watched too many fitness youtube videos to train these
I want to stress to hackernews readers my hats have never fallen on a baby and to insinuate this is even possible is slander. Regardless, my lab is at work on an anti baby update that will make this even more impossible
I’m sorry I haven’t made a slide yet
@_buildspace
@_nightsweekends
, I had a fever dream of the future and needed to build it and I’ll be on the front page of hacker news tomorrow. I’ll do the slides Monday
Fully improved AI counting squat counting! Try it out live!
I did not expect squats to be the first exercise I could reliably count with AI.
Only squats where the waist gets below the knees will count. Pushups and situps are next.
How to be a successful Indie hacker from my research:
- Be Dutch, but live in like Vietnam for some reason
- Refuse to collaborate with ANYONE, especially if they are your friends and building basically the same products
- Make dozens of similar websites so people don’t know
