@tyler_c_world How important is changing formats according to audience? Would a manga reader be more likely to buy an American comic trade if it was reformatted to manga size as opposed to comic trade size?

@LilFormers @tyler_c_world Last year, Dav Pilkey was the number one-selling author WORLDWIDE. For all of publishing. Period. So, it would not be ridiculous to say at all.

@tyler_c_world I heard the main mistake "all-ages" indie creators make is that they don't know the difference between child-friendly and CHILDISH. Kids don't like dumbed-down stories and parents won't buy comics for their kids that come off as stupid. Dog Man is hella funny for everyone.

@tyler_c_world The only time I hear about gatekeeping in indie spaces is when the people calling for it think the gatekeeping will clear out their competition.

@tyler_c_world I started playing around with Google Gemini this weekend. I appreciated the ease it could summarize my work and give bullet points which helped with my marketing, but I'm not convinced yet on how helpful it can be overall in my workflow.

@kyzman I'll believe it when they actually build it. The second they see they can survive Epic Universe as is, expect a lot of quiet cancellations.

@EvonAllure So THAT'S how you draw realistic glue! I don't know why TikTok had a problem with an obviously important reference technique for artists. 😬

@tyler_c_world They're all complaining like they EVER had a chance at owning a commission from Jim Lee. I bet they would have been dating Taylor Swift too if it wasn't for the football guy. πŸ™ƒ

@tyler_c_world THEM: Artists should get paid what they're worth. ALSO THEM: No, not like that.

@tyler_c_world The people who collect GI Joe are most likely not buying quirky indie books. It's like the creators who blame Pulido for their campaign not funding. But it goes to show you that building a dedicated audience is everything.

@tyler_c_world Be careful with averages. The last time they bragged about how much creators were making, their average was thrown off by the one creator making 9 million. Once the math was adjusted, creators who got paid were lucky to see $250 A YEAR.

@tyler_c_world @TheVindicated They want to pretend they're running a business when they really just have a hobby. It's okay to do projects that are personal and creative, but you have to accept the consequences of your audience either being harder to find or being really small when you do find them.

@tyler_c_world What I would do is hyperfocus on the projects that mean the most (whether financially or creatively, but both are best) and put all available effort into them instead of spreading yourself thin on too many projects because they "might" have potential.
