TB, how many people could call any of the Network Execs & say "it's Rudy" & they'd know who was calling & take the call in a NYC nano-second regardless of what they were doing. The Martzke Roast at the beautiful @BeauRivage was a classic & filmed & shown on CNN Sports! RIP Rudy.
I can’t begin to tell ya how many @FakeRudyMartzke columns I’ve hoarded thru the years. If you came up in our crazy business in the mid 80’s getting a “pop” as we always referred to it from Rudy was coveted. Prior to the Internet and long before websites like @awfulannouncing Rudy blazed a trail that forced most major market newspapers to cover sports television in ways it had never been covered before. Sports Executives as well as Broadcasters all religiously read his Monday columns. RIP Rudy “Toot” 💜🙏🙏and much love to Mouse (his wife)and family that were always by his side. @DannySheridan1 a longtime @usatodaysports colleague organized a ROAST for him 20 yrs.ago that @jwwalter1 wrote about in the original #SportsIllustrated
