Stoked our UNSW Law Journal article "Reparations and First Nations’ Legal Rights in Australia" won an Australian Legal Research Award for 2024 last night for the Indigenous Legal Research category ☺️ Always a pleasure to work with Beth Butchers and @DrAmyMaguire from UoN too🙏

Where to from here since the failed 2023 voice ref? Well, my starting point this yr is educating the next gen.There were 367 1st yr law students from my foundations of law course who just submitted essays on treaty & addressing FN disadvantage.I'm blown away w their responses🙌

@mattdasilva Well if you know how the legal system works you'd understand that I don't have lawmaking power to make those changes, the Aust gov does. Second, those changes don't offer practical outcomes to address Indigenous disadvantage. Feel free to lobby for them though

The Liberals have pledged to set new citizenship ceremony rules for Australia Day. Under Labor Australia Day is being dismantled with more than a quarter of councils in Victoria cancelling citizenship ceremonies. The Liberals will unite Australians on Australia Day.

This year, my resolution is to continue to lead and teach with love and honesty. There's not enough of it in this world. Despite the Voice rejection by the majority of Aust people, the fight for justice & a better future for our jarjums remains our priority #alwayswasalwayswillbe
