IMPORTANT: We've updated reagent reactions for cocaine, MDA, 2C-B, and oxycodone following several months of scraping DrugsData to verify our current color charts. New reactions & discussion here:
Today we learned that people have apparently eaten MDMA sprinkled on a hot dog. The depth of human ingenuity, specifically that of ravers in a parking lot, never ceases to amaze and delight.
The fact that it's 2023 and people still think LSD is stored in the spine, and you can crack your spine like a glow stick to get high, is a real testament to the quality of this country's drug education.
We're worried about the scale and regularity of ketamine consumption we're seeing in various party communities. Ketamine bladder cystitis is very real and quite dangerous, and it's possible to start using ket compulsively. Keep these risks in mind as you self-moderate.
One of the most important things we will ever post. PLEASE help us get these essential and simple instructions out. Using
#fentanyl
strips wrong can be wasteful at best and life-threatening at worst.

What happened at
#ASTROWORLDFest
should NEVER have been possible with responsible event planning. We say that event promoters become responsible for planning how to protect their patrons' safety, and THIS is why. This is a day of broken hearts.
ALERT: Counterfeit

contains tramadol, ketamine, caffeine. This is a bizarre press (and a really badly made one at that) but concerning nonetheless.
New DanceSafe

test strips are officially available on our website. No false positives with anything we've tested. Simpler dilution (by a lot). We're at a shitting-our-pants level of excited and exhausted.
Hot take: If you're going to throw an event, you are obligated to look after the safety of the people who attend it. Having something as basic as water shouldn't be celebrated, it should be expected.
We're heartbroken to hear of
#charlesthefirst
passing. He was an avid supporter of DanceSafe and harm reduction. Scooted up to our booth to thank us for being there at his festival in Wyoming. We have lost a truly lovely person in the world and our community.
#Fentanyl
has become the no. 1 cause of death in people ages 18 to 45. This is not a joke. Test your drugs. We sell test strips on our website.

. Are you paying attention yet? How many times will we have to tweet stuff like this before you want to start actually testing your baggies? How close to home will it have to hit?
So, how exactly did alcohol get exempted from being called a drug..? If we showed you videos of drunk people peeing on buildings or vomiting on themselves and said they'd taken "novel substance XP-84" everyone would freak out and try to ban it.
Venues, did you know? Prohibiting ins and outs is the reason that people chug half a fifth in their cars and then vomit all over your venue. Nightlife shouldn't run on business models that rely on the sale of alcohol.
PSA: Do not take 5-HTP within 24 hours on either side of a roll. You increase your baseline risk of serotonin syndrome. If you want to take it, take it afterwards a day or two later as symptom relief only.
Yall, almost all of the "Adderall" we see from people who bought it online or from a plug just contains meth. If it's not from a script, it ain't legit. People are out there wondering why they've been up for 24 hours rearranging their closet.
For being the least stigmatized drug out there, alcohol sure does have a solid reputation for making people vomit, black out, and pass out. Much more so than the majority of other stigmatized drugs.
EARPLUG CHALLENGE: People are so resistant to earplugs. Do us a favor - try out wearing them for one night, all the way through the show. Take them out 30 minutes before the end and see how much pain you're in. Report back.
People think psychedelics are all about the visuals, but it's really more like walking into the house after being at the beach and saying "am I sandy? I cannot tell if I am covered in sand."
The year is 2069. You walk into a dispensary. The new seasonal flavor of fair trade cocaine - pumpkin pie spice - is on display. The prison industrial complex has been dissolved and healthcare is free.
Psychedelic exceptionalism: The belief that only psychedelics & weed should be decriminalized because they are superior/safe. Which, very literally, throws your fellow people who use drugs under the bus in an effort to get ahead.
Can we please stop pretending like talking honestly about drugs hurts people? It's NOT talking about drugs that hurts people. People die because we won't talk about drugs.
Yeah dude, sometimes people react REALLY poorly to psychedelics and have life-alteringly traumatic experiences or severe mental health episodes. That's JUST as valid as people whose lives are saved or revolutionized by psychedelics. Nothing is a silver bullet.
Weed just isn't for everyone, and belittling other people for being lightweights or not enjoying the experience is just as problematic as belittling people for using weed in the first place.
If you're in the "haha it's too late for me" club with earplugs: No. It is not too late for you. If you can hear anything, it is not too late for you. And we absolutely assure you that by the time it IS too late, you'll be really distraught about it.
#Fentanyl
overdose does NOT look like a panic attack. It looks like gradually nodding off and falling asleep. The fact that cops can't even learn this basic and SIMPLE rule before running their mouths is disgraceful.
Reminder about LSD being absorbed through your skin: It's a myth. Your skin is meant to keep stuff out. That's why fentanyl and nicotine patches have to be specifically developed to allow for absorption, and even then it's slow. (CW: Unconsensual dosing stuff within.)
URGENT: We've pulled some strings (again) and we will be having a pop-up shop at Strip Smoke Shop in Vegas for
#EDC
. We'll have a limited run of 100 MDMA kits, 25 ketamine kits (can also be used for coke), 100 fent strips, 100 high fidelity earplugs, and micro scoops. STARTS FRI
No,
#fentanyl
test strips cannot detect every fentanyl analogue. No matter what, you should NEVER use anything alone right now and you should ALWAYS have Narcan on hand.
Friendly reminder that doing psychedelics to try and "fix" yourself can be a recipe for getting roundhouse kicked by the whole "you get the trip you need, not the trip you want" thing. There's always a lesson, but sometimes it hurts. Be ready for that possibility.
It's okay to simultaneously admit that a drug has risks AND that a drug can be fun and non-problematic. It doesn't have to be one or the other. Polarized conversations about drugs are THE reason why we ended up with generations of people believing that weed caused "brain damage."
Ketamine and alcohol don't play nicely and might take you to Vomit Town, right next door to Spinsville. If you must combine them, do ketamine FIRST and then SIP on a drink, rather than drinking and then bumping ket.
Overwhelming social support for DanceSafe's services at events is a big part of the reason why we're getting approached by promoters who previously wouldn't have us. Thank you, and keep it up. It's working.
This is probably a good time to remind everyone that if you buy someone a drink you're buying them a drink. You're not buying a conversation. Or a kiss. Or sex. Viewing intimacy as a transaction is predatory behavior.
How are promoters really going to gaslight people for getting dehydrated when the water costs $5 a bottle and there are no fountains or fill-up stations? 💫 (people have died in venues that turned off the sink water so no one could drink it)
Displacing people without housing because you want to throw an underground rave in the place they take shelter (like a warehouse, alleyway, bridge, or even storm drain) is beyond disgraceful.
@prophet_sound
What a terribly disappointing and irresponsible take. The drug market is a disaster because of our drug laws, which make it impossible to have any certainty about what you're consuming AND frequently illegal to test to try to figure any information out. This is horrible.
If anyone was wondering: NO, taking too much Benadryl is NOT anything like an acid or mushroom trip, in any capacity, and is instead a good way to experience void creatures and time glitching while you're trying to fall asleep. (It's a deliriant experience.)
We've been directly contacted by one of the suspected overdoses at Electric Forest, who was friends with/together with two of the other suspected overdoses at the time they happened. We can now CONFIRM that mushrooms were unrelated to the symptoms in these three cases.
You know what, some people are introverts who do NOT benefit from psychedelics but GREATLY benefit from cocaine in social settings, and it's THEIR autonomous right to decide whether that relationship is working for them. Not anyone else's.
There's a whole culture around moms being so stressed that they need to drink multiple glasses of wine per day. How is it that this is laughable and relatable content, but people casually doing any other drug is cause for intervention?
It's pretty rare for psychedelic experiences to be comfortable all the way through. The discomfort is often what brings the most growth and long-lasting change. 🌙
Trusting your dealer means nothing, truly. Your dealer could be the nicest person in the world and still have no idea that their supply is contaminated. It happens ALL THE TIME, and people die because of it. Test. Your. Drugs.
Some basics: 1) Everyone deserves food, water, and shelter as basic human rights. 2) No person deserves to die because they use drugs. It is truly amazing that these points are argued about. How far we stray from compassion.
Instagram has been feverishly censoring our posts, most recently and shamefully the one that teaches you how to test your drugs for
#fentanyl
so you don't fucking DIE. We are desperately seeking a contact to help us discuss algorithm exemption, since our account is in jeopardy.
#Fentanyl
is NOT just in opioids. It is being found in coke, benzos, meth, occasionally ketamine or MDMA, and all kinds of other stuff (not weed tho). This isn't an issue for
#opioid
users. It's for everyone who uses drugs, period.
This one's a shoutout to anyone who's trying to change their relationship with any drug (nicotine, alcohol, weed, dope, acid, Adderall, whatever). We're proud of you and we're rooting for you, no matter what.
Maybe instead of giving people shit for using stimulants to enhance their productivity, we should be investigating the systems that make productivity the most valued part of people's identities.
Y'all, if you're rolling every weekend 5-HTP isn't going to save you. You might minimize the discomfort of having just released a buttload of serotonin with 5-HTP (after), but nothing except spacing your rolls is guaranteed to make molly work for more than a few years.
If your normal dose of molly doesn't make you roll, before saying it's a "bad batch" consider that you might just be rolling too often and have a tolerance. Under-dosing MDMA can make you feel weird and anxious and antisocial.
We're soooo tired of debunking these outrageous "cop overdoses on fentanyl" videos. The video footage clearly shows syncope (fainting), panic attack, etc. and NOT signs of opioid overdose, and then the claimed methods of exposure also aren't legitimate each time.
S/o to
#Arkansas
for its laws making the *possession OR use OR sale OR delivery* of fentanyl test strips and drug checking reagents... a felony. Bet that's doing lots to prevent death and suffering.
If you're doing drugs by yourself, call the free Never Use Alone hotline at (800) 484-3731. They'll stay on the phone with you for the duration of your ingestion/come-up and call for assistance if something goes wrong.
Recall that the American healthcare system + criminalization has forced people to take alternate routes to improve their quality of life. It is hard for folks who need Adderall to get it because we have created a harmful system that denies essential treatment. That is the focus.
@prophet_sound
Charles invited us to his festival in Wyoming and personally, very cheerfully, thanked us at the booth for being there. He LOVED harm reduction and was a huge passionate proponent of it. Yesterday was a day for mourning, and today is NOT a day for disgracing his memory like this.
"Soft" and "hard" drugs don't exist. Taking a sub-threshold quantity of a "hard drug" won't do anything to your body, while eating a 200 mg edible could land you in the hospital and end up causing dangerous dehydration from vomiting. It's NOT the drug. It's the how, who, and why.
Today we'd like to shout out everyone's favorite human experience, Ripping Your Tent Open at 8am in your Damp Sleeping Bag while Gasping for Air and Dripping With Sweat in Direct Sunlight.
Someone you love uses drugs, even if you don't know it.
(Alcohol, nicotine, Tylenol, Lamictal, Lexapro, Adderall, albuterol inhalers, etc. are all drugs, in case you forgot.)
If you aren't checking your drugs yet you're honestly missing out. Using reagents is like an elementary school science experiment. There's fizzing, things change color, sometimes stuff bubbles or smokes. Mysteries are unraveled. Oohs and ahhs are had.
You can eat cocaine. This is a great way to protect your delicate nasal cavities if you've been snorting a lot. To "coke bomb:" weigh approx. 2x your normal dose, wrap it in tissue paper, and eat it. This lasts about 1.5 hours. (Don't hit us with the "or don't do coke.")
It's totally fine to love
#psychedelics
, but what's not fine is the insinuation that psychedelics are inherently better
#drugs
(and, by extension, those who use them are inherently better people than those who use "bad drugs").
For the billionth time, unless you're intentionally starving yourself of oxygen you're NOT "killing brain cells" by doing nitrous occasionally/casually. You CAN indeed cause nerve damage by doing too much nitrous too regularly. Circumstances of concern are:
Most people don't have access to drug education and convos about counterfeit/misrepresented pills. Saying "that looks obviously fake" implies that you have a basic understanding of the illicit drug market. Most people do not. Do not shame folks for being failed by education.
Just because you're in a crowd and someone happens to be dancing in front of you DOES NOT MEAN that they have somehow consented to you pressing your body against them on purpose or grinding on them.
It is staggering how common this is.
Good morning. Breathe in through your nose, breathe out fully through your mouth. You're alive. We're so happy you're here. Nothing would be the same without you.
When life gives you lemons, make lemon tek, if that's your thing. Chop up + soak a half or a third of your normal dose of shrooms in a shot of lemon juice for 15-25 minutes and drink the shot. It'll come on in half the time, hit MUCH harder, and last an hour shorter.
Can we talk about sleep shaming? People's bodies are made for different rhythms of sleep/wakefulness. Shaming folks for having weird sleep schedules/preferences can make them feel lazy, guilty, or isolated. Let people figure out what works for them.
#Ketamine
is one of the most effective short-acting
#antidepressants
in the world, regardless of whether you're snorting it off a plate or getting an IV drip in a doctor's office. Treatment is inaccessible.
#destigmatize
POV: Someone offers you a bump at the club. "Did you test it?" you ask. "No," they say. You produce a fentanyl test strip from your pocket. You tell them about the DanceSafe website and say to read the instructions fully. You tell them you love them. You vanish into the night.
News flash: Billions of people use drugs and it actually BENEFITS their lives. Others have terrible challenges with drugs. These two realities can exist and be acknowledged simultaneously.
Crushing up your drugs before snorting them is harm reduction. Shards and sharps can really tear up sensitive mucous membranes, causing bleeding and clotting. Crush on a flat plate with a credit card.
Wet blanket incoming: No, eating vegetables and exercising and meditating are not going to make it so that you're in the clear to do molly once a week.
