Most agree mental health issues aren't addressed as well as physical health issues. How did we get here? And how can we do better? Thanks to @AAMCtoday for publishing my essay tackling these questions by looking at how doctors are trained and practice.

Earlier this week, @wunc re-aired my May 2024 interview on its show "Due South". We talked about what led me to write both of my books, and a lot more. Initial plan was for short interview, but we enjoyed ourselves too much for that!

While I was in town, walked over to @YaleLawSch where I graduated in 2003. It's amazing to think how this school produces such influential people on opposite sides of politics (Bill Clinton and JD Vance), and the law (Sonia Sotomayor and Samuel Alito).

Had a great visit yesterday at @YaleMed giving a lecture to @YaleMedHum about my most recent book "Facing the Unseen". Met several medical students and young doctors who told me my writings encouraged them to enter medicine. So honored.

Thanks to @OhioStateDHLRI and @OhioStateMed for hosting me on Friday. I had a great series of conversations with faculty and staff. But I always enjoy talking with students the most, as they keep this 50-yr-old feeling a bit younger and a bit better about the future.

Hi everyone - please check out this article I published in @AAMCtoday describing a project I've been working on at Duke the past few years looking at the intersection of race and medicine through the lens of history.

Thanks to @UCSFMedicine and @UCSFPsychiatry for hosting me last week. In addition to giving two formal presentations about the intersections of mental health, race and medicine, I also had the chance to engage with current medical students.

Many thanks to Columbia @NarrativeMed for hosting me earlier this week to discuss "Facing the Unseen". Their program started in 2001 at the time I was just starting to think about medical writing, never imagining then that our paths would cross.
