Paul Vallas not only likes racist tweets but he’s also become addicted to saying unintelligent things and then deleting it after he’s criticized. He deleted this today which insulted Brandon Johnson’s classroom experience and his experience as an elected Cook County Commissioner

If you are a University President or official calling the police on your own students for demanding peace and an end to genocide you should be out of a job.

Chicago educators are fighting to prevent schools being opened in person because we value life. Too many of us know what it’s like to experience loss. If one student, educator, or exposed family member dies from Covid that’s one too many. Remote isn’t ideal but grief is worse.

Literally the only “critics” who “worry”is the real estate lobby. A one time transfer tax on properties over $1 million isn’t scary. It’s a brilliant way to provide basic humanity and take care of our unhoused Chicagoans. #BringChicagoHome

Critics worry that Bring Chicago Home — Mayor Brandon Johnson’s request to hike the transfer tax that he hopes will pour more funds into homelessness prevention — might encounter the same pitfalls Los Angeles has struggled with.

Just spent some time with my mom at the University of Chicago Encampment. The scene is families, little kids with bubbles and sidewalk chalk. Students have created this space. There are supportive faculty looking out for them. The demand is peace. @UChicago

With the $90,000 per day that Chicago Public Schools pays for CPD to police our students, we could have 365 extra counselors/social workers, all schools would get more child expert supports. We could allocate more supports to the schools that need the most. #PoliceFreeSchools

Chicago Police has lied for years, CPD has forced false confessions, CPD has assaulted people, CPD has tortured people, CPD has disappeared people. This is all able to be researched and verified. #FreeMohawk

If you now find yourself talking about Chicago’s youth, then I look forward to seeing the history of you advocating for them to have more resources, supports, and investments over the years.

Presenting Paul Vallas who has NEVER been elected to anything. Appointed to everything, constantly failing and due to white privilege, given chance after chance. Brandon Johnson worked with students everyday, then was an organizer AND then ELECTED to Cook County Commissioner

Attended a house party for @Brandon4Chicago today. Brandon is always 🔥but as teacher & parent this really hit. “If a 12 year old is car jacking that says more about the society than the child.”

The immigration story of America. Federal Govt. arbitrarily decides to help some (based on race/ethnicity) but not others. Then Americans claim “not in our backyard” while other immigrants just become “American”.

“Research by Harvard and Stanford universities found Chicago’s 3rd-8th grade students outpaced most similar districts in reading growth from 2019 to 2023, while Illinois was one of only three states whose reading achievement now exceeds 2019 levels.”

The emotion that I have this morning upon finding out that Chicago Public Schools finally announced being remote is relief with anger. I’m angry for the hours my partner (CPS educator) & I spent talking about what we would do if CPS went through with the ridiculous hybrid plan.

A reminder that “Awake Illinois” should be considered a hate group. It also should come as no surprise that they have connections to the Illinois Policy Institute.
