Today marks the anniversary of the Genocide Convention—a solemn reminder of our shared responsibility under international law to prevent and end atrocity crimes. The ongoing suffering of the Palestinian people demands urgent action to uphold these obligations and prevent further atrocities. By signing the Convention, states pledged to take meaningful action to prevent genocide. It’s time to honour that pledge. Read the joint statement here: #GenocideConvention #CeasefireNOW

DRC @DRC_ngo and our partners @PARC_Palestine were able to distribute food to more than 1,500 families in #Gaza city. Yet with the risk of famine imminent, this a drop in the ocean compared to the need. Humanitarian access and the flow of commercial trucks must be urgently facilitated at scale. The world cannot stand by and watch as a population is left amidst active warfare without even the most basic necessities of food and water. #CeasefireNOW

In #Gaza, where nowhere is safe. People are trapped facing ongoing bombardments and the hidden threat of #ExplosiveOrdnance. Until there is a #ceasefire and adequate access, Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) remains the only way to safeguard against this danger. @DRC_ngo, alongside @reform_ps and @AssociationParc , is delivering EORE to help communities navigate these unseen dangers and stay safe until the threat can be removed. Learn more about the risks, reality and our response in DRC’s latest report: #CeasefireNOW

DRC @DRC_ngo welcomes the announcement of a ceasefire in #Lebanon. This is a critical step that must remain permanent to meaningfully protect civilians and give affected communities a chance to rebuild their lives. With a heavy toll on civilians and severe damage to infrastructure, including entire villages turned into rubble, the international community must step up its efforts to alleviate the suffering of all communities in Lebanon. Just as importantly, we call for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in #Gaza, which continues to experience indescribable horrors. Both humanitarian crises stem from the same unlawful patterns of warfare, and saving lives should be the only priority in both Lebanon and Gaza. Up to one million people have been displaced inside Lebanon, about two million in Gaza are trapped with little to no access to aid, and approximately 562,000 Syrian refugees and Lebanese had no choice but to seek refuge in Syria over the past 2 months. At least 3,800 people have died in Lebanon and 44,000 in Gaza, largely due to indiscriminate attacks by Israeli forces. Families in Lebanon and Gaza need lasting peace, access to aid and true hope that suffering is going to end. Anything less is unacceptable. #ceasefireNOW

People in #Gaza have been displaced an average of six times - once every two months. The entire strip is covered with debris that contains deadly explosive ordnance. Civilians endure unimaginable suffering from the catastrophic use of explosive weapons in one of the world’s most densely populated areas.
