It is with a heavy heart that I announce that this morning at approximately 0125 a @DallasPD officer, working an accident scene, was struck and killed by a DWI driver. Our department is once again mourning, but we are heartened by the strength of his family. Godspeed my brother.

Tonight, the community and our officers came together to honor Officer Mitchell Penton, a two year veteran of @DallasPD who gave his life serving this city, with a vigil. Soon, he will be laid to rest. We will honor him and his family always. I’m so proud to wear this patch.

Drug houses are a detriment to our city. Today, Dallas SWAT served a warrant at a high risk location. 6 people were arrested for narco. But, it was the 10th time in 3 yrs we’ve hit this location. My message to landlords: Be warned, be responsible or we WILL hold YOU accountable.

Rolled with our @DallasPD Fugitive unit today. A suspect wanted for kidnapping and another wanted for aggravated robbery, wish they didn’t exist. They even let the old man hold a perimeter spot. Tracking down these criminals isn’t easy. But they put in the work! Proud!

The suspect in the shooting at Methodist Medical Center has been identified as 30 year old Nestor Hernandez. He has been charged with capital murder. According to DPD he was out on parole for aggravated robbery and had an active ankle monitor. @wfaa @dallaspolice_.

This work tho!! @DallasPD S/W narco, along with uniformed officers, conducted a traffic stop on a suspected drug dealer. Our K-9 hit on the vehicle, and approx 10 kilos of suspected crystal methamphetamine was recovered with a firearm. NOT personal use. That’s a gooooood dooog!!
