Lower wholesale electricity prices help to keep Victorian businesses competitive. The latest @AEMO_Energy data shows Victorian wholesale prices at about half the NEM average.
Victoria continues to have the lowest wholesale electricity prices of any Australian state. The Australian Energy Market Operator’s Quarterly Energy Dynamics Report released yesterday confirmed that across Q4 2024, Victoria’s prices were almost half the average cost across Australia. In 2024, Victoria’s Default Offer reduced 7% from 2023, saving households around $100 and businesses $260 on their electricity. The 2024-25 Victorian Default Offer is, on average, more than $300 lower than the Default Offer in NSW, QLD and SA. Victoria’s Default Offer (VDO) provides a simple, fair electricity price for households and small businesses. This means Victoria remains the best place to live and to do business in Australia when it comes to energy bills. We’re achieving this while delivering on our plan to transition Victoria to renewable energy, ensuring a cleaner, cheaper energy future for all. Get the facts at
