@DCross_psycho9 @SUEPAssoc Yes I saw Mervyn just a few weeks ago he had come down from Norfolk to support a former Southend team mate Micky Stead at a charity match in Pitsea who had some health issues. Also saw Kevin Keelan play a few times back in the day 600+ matches for Norwich City and a club legend.

I have just done some more research on those 3 matches and then realised that our goalkeeper that night was an old team mate of yours at Norwich City, Mervyn Cawston a lovely lovely man and one of our best ever goalies if not the very best.⚽️⚽️

@DCross_psycho9 @SUEPAssoc Thanks for that Dave, if my memory serves me well you actually played at Roots Hall back in 1979-80. It was a League Cup game which went to 3 matches after 1-1 draw at Upton Park in which you scored, we then drew 0-0 at Roots Hall before being thrashed 5-1 in the third match.

I don’t get invited to pre match events anymore: mainly because of my stance on behalf of our fans in relation to the concessions issue. Well. I don’t care, because I’m on the side of our loyal fans who love this club much more than the people who own us !

The summer I left school in 1980 I watched a lot of county cricket. I remember thinking over the years that followed when I retired I would again be able to spend summers watching the county game. It's now increasingly unlikely there will be much left to watch in the years ahead

Fantastic memory of when I went to see CCR at the Royal Albert Hall back in 1970 with best mates TC(RIP) and the Lawman. "Happy Days they were as well"
John Fogerty performs his biggest hit "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" At almost 80, Fogerty is singing this song in the same key he sang it in 55 years ago! Incredible.
