@RefugeCharity In recent years, #Al and #deepfake technology has made huge progress. Research has shown that 96% of deepfake videos online are pornographic videos. The main victims are women… their images are used without consent and often without their knowledge. #DACB24

@RefugeCharity Smart devices are now commonly found in the house. These include smart TVs, doorbells, plugs and even thermostats. Perpetrators may misuse these to monitor and track survivors or use as surveillance. #DACB24

@RefugeCharity Sophie Inkster: when a survivor is fleeing abuse they have so much on their minds… Many apps and features on phone settings rely on the use of location settings - it’s important to check who has access #DACB24

@martintandc We think about this threat of outing... A client of mine… every time he tried to end his relationship his partner threatened to tell his family. They did split up in the end and his family disowned him / 60% of his clients stopped using him #DACB24

@martintandc Sleep can be controlled. Arguments before bed so you don’t sleep well. We are far less able to get out of a difficult situation if we are tired. #DACB24

@martintandc If you aren’t out to your family, you may not be able to talk to them about instances of domestic abuse… There is a different level of threat if you aren’t out. To 18 or 19 year old me - this could have been weaponised #DACB24

@martintandc I have been punched in the face at a cash point when someone heard I was going to a gay bar… I have never thought of reporting my instances of homophobia to the police, which then effectively has a ripple effect. #DACB24

@martintandc Domestic abuse is gendered, all of our data tells us that… there has also been an ignorance around women using violence. #DACB24
