Update: this situation remains and it seems I’m getting further up shit creek with no paddle in terms of finding a team in Europe to race with next year. Certainly not keen to hang up the bike just yet so any help would be hugely appreciated 🙏🙏🙏
The end of season has snuck up fast as always and I’m still without a ride for next year.
Despite my ripe old age of 24 I’m confident my best years are ahead of me and hope to be able to race in Europe again next year.

Today after 16 years of riding a road bike my relatively fortunate streak of not being hit by a car came to an end. Got T-boned by a driver at a roundabout while riding home from work. Extremely lucky my backpack and helmet took the majority of the impact and nothing is broken.

Pulled some climbing legs out of my derrière and managed to make the front selection on a brutal course at Boucles de l’Aulne 😵💫
Went the death or glory solo move in the final 15km and got death but it feels bloody good to be racing at the pointy end at this level 🙌

Super cool here in Bruges hearing the huge cheers from locals for the riders coming past from Syria, Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Cyprus. Granted they’re not as big as the cheer that Remco just got but good for cycling as a sport all the same!

Passenger side means the rider is dangerously close to the gutter while feeding or the car is sticking out a long way and blocking other cars/riders from passing.
Back seat is better however makes it harder for the driver to match the rider’s speed if he isn’t side by side.

Aggressive racing for most of the day plus plenty of wind and some bergs thrown in too. 30 blokes left in the end but two of them were too quick for me.
Up to 3rd on GC and plenty of road between here and the finish ✊

Privileged to have been given the opportunity to spend a great three years studying and riding thanks to the Drapac family and all staff and riders involved with the team. This will leave a hole in Australian cycling that will be hard to fill. Forever grateful 🙏❤️🖤
After 16 years of competing in all levels of the sport, the Drapac Cycling team will be concluding operations at the end of the 2019 season.
