in the best possible way Turning Red is "Do not kill the part of you that is cringe - kill the part of you that cringes" concentrated into a movie and it's wonderful
I think what's so exciting about this land to me is that it's the closest thing to a "broad concept" land instead of just a single film franchise land we've seen in YEARS.
NEW: Universal Orlando has revealed new details about Dark Universe, one of five worlds coming to Epic Universe next year. The land, described as "a monster kid's dream," will feature two attractions -- Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment and Curse of the Werewolf.
reminder that as DL starts canceling entertainment "in response to rising labor costs" they want you to blame the CMs for daring to unionize but it's Disney who chose to cancel that entertainment NOT the CMs who deserve not just fair pay but proper protections in their jobs
so not only is Willow among other things being removed, the documentary about Howard Ashman, the man without whom The Little Mermaid and Beauty & the Beast would not exist, is being removed. just shitty on all levels http
Goddamn do I love star wars right about now. The Acolyte rules and I need this show renewed for as many seasons as the Lesyle and her team have in mind and I need that announcement by D23 in a couple weeks thanks
#RenewTheAcolyte
you know TECHNICALLY when you entered Bug's Land you were already shrinking down to the size of an ant so really it was always that sma-- *gets tackled off-stage*
I truly cannot in good conscious recommend anything star wars to anyone again between projects getting killed and the constant mass harassment campaigns that run rampant its frankly irresponsible to suggest anyone get interested in the whole franchise
During the Morgan Stanley teleconference, Disney CEO Bob Iger said the company "could actually build seven new full lands if we wanted to around the world." He also said they have enough land to expand Disneyland Resort by more than 50%.
Disney+’s documentary ‘Howard’ will not be removed from the service. “The list of titles coming off of Hulu and Disney+ next week is still being finalized ,” a rep for the company said, indicating that there could be additional changes

Tying into character development rather than just "uh the sith had to make synthetic crystals which all end up red" us so much more interesting and compelling
Just a reminder that the "sneak peak of Galaxy Edge" during tomorrow's Disney Christmas Parade special could very well be entirely info and footage we've already seen just now being marketed at a more general audience who don't follow every little scrap of parks news.
your "inspiring content" that almost only ever has LGBTQ+ characters either in underdeveloped supporting roles where they can be edited out or in cable tv shows that get cancelled early because they don't fit the "disney brand?
that "inspiring content"?
NEW: Disney responds to protests and calls for action surrounding Florida's "Don't Say Gay" Bill, saying in part, "The biggest impact we can have in creating a more inclusive world is through the inspiring content we produce."

not looking forward to all the hot takes about how starcruiser featuring the ST era and characters instead of OT is why it's closing and not the huge financial barrier to entry
Look I already know that all upper disney management cares about is film and tv brands and IP integration but I'm still genuinely really perturbed to hear the CEO talk so dismissively of having original ideas in the parks.
Bob Iger, your "nondescript coaster somewhere, that maybe is [themed like] India or whatever” Currently has a 115 minute wait. For the love of god, the theme parks need a healthy balance of original concepts and movie IPs.

“It’s not about Disney and Pixar anymore,” says Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon CEO Brian Robbins, noting that films like “Elemental” have stumbled. “People are looking for animated movies that are irreverent and have a comedic point of view.”
It's really remarkable how every time I think I can comfortably and excitedly enjoy star wars again without qualification they manage to pull the rug out from under me AGAIN and it's right back into the pit of frustration down to my core resignation that I was stupid to care
Iger says creators at Disney have lost sight of what their jobs should be -- 1) entertain first. It's not about messages.
He says it got worse when he left as CEO/Chairman.

for an excellent Jungle Crusie with Skipper Daniel this morning
@DisneylandToday
. Lots of hilarious jokes of I haven't heard before with perfect energy
DL can absolutely afford to continue shows if they want to but right now they have a scapegoat to try and justify operational budget cuts that they would have tried to do eventually regardless
Can I just say that it's kind of bullshit that you can have both a stuffy and running nose at the same time? Like how in any way is that fair or even make sense?
In unrelated news, my sinuses started acting up today.
more i think about Turning Red the more I'm glad I had a chance to see it in a theater and the more I desperately wish it had got a proper wide theatrical release instead of a week of shows at one single-screen theater owned by disney in Hollywood.
@raetheforce
It's built for a lot of things that they haven't explored. Like there is no better fitting IP they have for use as a Tomorrowland or Future World edutainment attraction. And what they've made was a Mater's clone...
Like it's not technically a "original non-IP" project but it is ambitious and has the scope and flexibility to contain a lot of different but related and cohesive ideas

Luke: oh she also maybe mentioned some other guy my age
Leia: can we meet him?
Luke: no apparently he went missing with some space squid whales?
@JennyENicholson
my prediction: while her original character did die and wasn't transferred to a navi body her memories WERE transferred into Eywa and the planet's organic memory network and this character for whatever reason carries some element of that
@JennyENicholson
Star is super cute but I don't see the brand mascot vibes, at least not moreso than say Tinkerbell used to be during the Wonderful World of Color/Disneyland television show era

who needs a system literally built to fill gaps in seating and maintain efficiency when you can keep things less efficient deliberately to push them to your upcharge
I'm Ian, I'm 30 and while I still intend to take a formal assessment at some point I finally feel comfortable actually outright saying, I'm autistic.

Funnily enough, LEGO have done that for Hera and Ahsoka since the original Rebels sets so it sees to have been a sticking point for a while
I dont normally comment on how clean things are the parks because I know custodial can't be everywhere at once but there's some things that should be taken care of after hours.
Namely the floor of the Space Mountain indoor overflow queue. It's just covered in dust and dirt.
