A bit of tennis history here, the childhood friend/former agent of Agassi, Perry Rogers, absolutely hammering the Hall of Fame player and coach George Karl on threads with regards to the Jason Tatum lack of playing time debacle.
From multiple players, the boyfriend was no longer the boyfriend, Sabalenka was in Indian Wells with a new guy, she and the new guy flew with Dimitrov on a pj to Miami from the desert, seems as though Koltsov came to Miami to try sort it out…
I’m being told IMG has Miami and Madrid are up for sale, Bankers shopping em, the whole shebang. Floor price is 500 million each. Being told the PIF will buy Miami, and ultimately move it because the venue is a dog.
Some tennis movie news, Multiple sources have confirmed that Zach Heinzerling, who directed the masterpiece Cutie and the Boxer, is filming a Last Dance-esque project as we speak featuring Rafa, and an announcement of a documentary project featuring Agassi for Apple is imminent

when the player chose to go to practice and stay in the tournament and declare press off limits without a statement it begged an explanation. Whether you like it or not.
Inside sources telling me the Djokovic team is flying to Spain today, no one has a contract. Being told Novak may clean house, he’s being ruthless with everyone, including Madden, the new manager, and he is being flashed a billion by the Saudis to set up a new Association.
Being told Break Point is tracking to be all done after this season airs. Lack of cooperation from Novak Rafa and Coco in particular has kneecapped the series.
Speaking of Novak, Just learned from inside sources that Novak is “unhappy with his team” and is going to be making some changes. Will focus on the clay, is unsure about playing Wimbledon as he is hyper focused on winning Olympic Gold in Roland Garros.

To be fair, NBC did a terrible job with this final broadcast, particularly since they had the event since 1983. Completely budget, bare bones production, a lack of reverence, and devoid of any production value to commemorate their run, whatsoever. Hugely disappointing.
By the way, how incredible is our sport, where a Sara Errani can go from a top fiver over a decade ago, to essentially off the tour ruined by crazy yips on her serve, to mentoring a paisana into the top 10, and today, together, they brought home the hardware? Unreal.

This would have been unthinkable last year when Novak Djokovic was beating everyone. But I do think he's going to retire this year, along with Nadal and Andy Murray.

With all the rain and late night sessions I forgot to report Reilly Opelka re-enters pro tennis in Newport. He’s had a tough run with a hip and then a wrist, I really hope he finds his form.

, his Osaka biography is outstanding, he did the work and didn’t just regurgitate a player’s results. I highly recommend. We are chatting about this and all the tennis Tuesday morning at The Journal Cafe.
With Osaka’s tennis on the uptick, so is her agency Evolve, as agent Alex Sohaili has left Octagon after 8 years and joined them, bringing with him Anna Kalinskaya who I believe has tremendous crossover upside. I’m told there will be some big announcements forthcoming.
I actually love to watch Rafa play doubles. In a way I find it way more interesting then seeing him play singles these days. When he played dubs with Verdasco in Indian Wells I was fascinated by his skill.
Word on the street is that Club Fed cashed out his ON shares. It will be interesting to see what his involvement moving forward will be, as well as what ON’s involvement in tennis will be.
Been told reps from all the majors are parachuting into Miami tomorrow to get into talks with the Associations and the PIF to get a deal worked out. Mayhem.
Jasmine Paolini broke new ground by advancing to a first career Slam semifinal with her defeat of Elena Rybakina in three sets.

Some journey for Billy Harris: grew up in the Isle of Man, travelled to tournaments across Europe in a converted Ford transit van with a mattress in the back, and now he's in the Wimbledon main draw for the first time at the age of 29.
Didn’t show a piece of trophy ceremony, didn’t roll credits, cobbled together a inadequate rollout. Didn’t even show Borg. They have mailed it in for a long time, tbh deserve to lose it.
thinking about Goran a little here, and my conversations and interactions with him. The nicest guy, effusive in his praise and respect for his player, this must have been extremely unpleasant, especially after they ran the table last year with the exception of the Wimby Final.
Ever since I scheduled elbow surgery I’ve been lights out. Beat a bunch of good players 20 years younger than me to take the trophy.

Never heard of Craig Shapiro before this, but I’m following now to see if he gets his comeuppance for this appalling behaviour. I hope his tennis contacts are witnessing what’s happening here.
Man the Saudi chatter is at Defcon 5, Hearing IMG getting a sale of Miami together to them, and a big giant Masters 1000 event in Riyadh will kick off the year. Wild.
