Weekend suggestion: Our Senedd exhibition in Cardiff! (open until Feb 13). Home: The Key to Hope, features artwork by Crisis members exploring the real meaning of "Home" as something far beyond just shelter. Their creations have been inspiring visitors to share their own ideas.

In a word, wow. Over Christmas 2024, we were able to help over 5,500 people experiencing homelessness through our Crisis at Christmas day centres, our hotels and our Skylight centres across Britain. This is entirely thanks to our incredible supporters – so thank you!

The numbers don't add up. Homelessness is rising, yet we’re still losing more social homes than we’re building. The Govt wants to build 1.5m homes👏 That must include funding in the spending review to cover building 90,000 social homes annually.

Thousands of people - including families - get pushed into poverty and homelessness because they can't afford rent. The government must urgently commit to raising local housing allowance to cover at least the bottom third of private rents.

The number of people forced to sleep rough in London is still rising. But this is preventable. We need a national strategy to tackle homelessness, including more social housing to prevent people becoming homeless & quickly house those rough sleeping.

Children are dying in temporary accommodation. Every child should have a safe place to call home but people are forced to live in dangerous and insecure housing. We have to build more good quality affordable homes and provide sufficient funding for support

Our last thank you for this week goes out to the Homeless Health team from @CLCHNHSTrust who provided drop-in health clinics for day centre and hotel guests in their area over Christmas. Thanks to their incredible care, over 100 of our guests had a happy AND healthier Christmas!

@Ellevalh According to the Govt's own figures 90% of lead tenants in social housing are UK citizens. It is almost impossible for non-British nationals, even those here legally, to get social housing.
