Does anybody else think it's batshit crazy they're showing a primetime NFL playoff game on Peacock (a streaming service I'm guessing most people don't have)?
Things Iowa State has done in the blackout uniforms:
-Beaten a top 10, undefeated West Virginia team
-Beaten K-State for the first time in 11 years in one of the greatest comebacks ever
-Beaten Texas on a walk-off field goal
-Beaten Oklahoma in Ames for the first time since 1960
-If Iowa State had scored just ONE more touchdown in each game, we'd be 10-1
-If Iowa State had scored 21 points in each game, we'd be 8-3
-If Iowa State had won the games it was favored in, we'd be 7-4
Instead, we're 4-7. So close, yet so far.
I feel like we'll look back on Steve Prohm the same way we look at Paul Rhoads. Genuinely good guy, loved being at Iowa State, had some early success but couldn't keep it going in the long run. Best of luck to Prohm wherever he lands next - you're one of the good ones.
Anyone that's ever been in Hilton for a game knows the "sending videos of K-State during the timeout to the ISU coaching staff" rumors are untrue because that message wouldn't even send until after the game ends
December 2015:
-Iowa State basketball is ranked in the top 5
-Iowa football is playing in a conference championship game
December 2020:
-Iowa basketball is ranked in the top 5
-Iowa State football is playing in a conference championship game
The two teams playing in this game have combined to win two of the last six national titles and at least one of them have made the playoffs every year since 2015.
A baby who was conceived on the night of Iowa's last Sweet 16 would now be able to legally drink alcohol. A baby who was conceived on the night of Iowa State's last Sweet 16 isn't even born yet.
I got to cheer for a team that had Georges Niang, Monte Morris, Melvin Ejim, DeAndre Kane, Naz Long, Matt Thomas, Dustin Hogue, Abdel Nader and Jameel McKay on it at the same time and you can never take that away from me
We are very blessed as Iowa State fans. At this moment, we have:
-The winningest football coach in ISU history
-The winningest women's basketball coach in ISU history
-The coach with the highest winning percentage in ISU men's basketball history
In honor of Matt Campbell becoming the winningest coach in Iowa State history, I am ranking his 57 wins at ISU:
1. 2020 - Fiesta Bowl (W 34-17)
2. 2017 - @
#3
Oklahoma (W 38-31)
3. 2017 -
#4
TCU (W 14-7)
4. 2018 -
#6
West Virginia (W 30-14)
5. 2020 - @
#17
Texas (W 23-20)
They say every game in the Big 12 is like an NCAA Tournament game, but I'm feeling like Monday's Iowa State-Houston game is gonna be like a Final 4 game
Seven years ago today, Iowa State lost 23-30 in a double overtime game on the road at Toledo. The game was just as ugly as it sounds. That Toledo team was led by a young, up-and-coming head coach. His name? Matt Campbell.
A Nebraska fan made fun of my girlfriend yesterday for wearing an Iowa State Fiesta Bowl Champions hat. He was like "Iowa State? Champions?!? You must be joking". I wish I could see his face as Nebraska lost today.
How fall weather works in the state of Iowa:
-Does Iowa State have a home game? Make it really bad. Lots of rain, too hot or too cold, always a risk for a severe weather delay
-Does Iowa State not have a home game? Make it the most beautiful day you've ever seen
The cool thing about playing Notre Dame in a bowl game is that literally everyone in the country outside of Notre Dame fans will be cheering for Iowa State
I keep hearing "North Carolina is a guaranteed
#1
seed" but what exactly do they have on their resume that puts them ahead of Iowa State? We have the same record, play in a better conference and beat the
#1
team twice.
I would like to formally apologize to UNLV for:
1. Stealing your basketball coach
2. Beating your football team on September 18th in your home stadium where your fans will probably be outnumbered by our fans
I love Brock Purdy. He's more mature than most 19-year-olds while dealing with the expectations and distractions that come with being a college football player. I'm so glad he's my quarterback.
Brock Purdy throws three picks in The final 7 minutes as the Cyclones fall to Oklahoma State, 34-27. You could see the disappointment on Purdy’s face postgame.
People in other parts of the country don't really understand this concept, but I would much, much rather spend the rest of my life in Central Iowa than LA.
Iowa State has a better record than Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska, Missouri and Colorado, so I think that means we can clinch the Big 12 North with a win this weekend 😎🤙
I think it's super funny that Oklahoma fans can't see the similarities between what their school did to the Big 12 and what Lincoln Riley did to them yesterday
Pretty much everybody in our fanbase agrees that this is the best (or at least one of the best) Iowa State logos of all-time, yet our athletic department continues to use a boring block I-State logo that most people think is "meh" at best
Iowa State has 31 wins over the last four years. For context, Iowa State had 27 wins during the entire decade of the 90s. We really are living in the best times.
✅ Charlie Kolar makes conference championship game
✅ Brock Purdy makes conference championship game
✅ David Montgomery makes conference championship game
Obviously, there's a lot of uncertainty surrounding Iowa State and the Big 12 right now, but a school that has 35k students, brings 60k fans to games, has a recent track record of football success and is in good academic standing will be ok
Brock Purdy. Breece Hall. Charlie Kolar. Mike Rose. Greg Eisworth. Xavier Hutchinson. Will McDonald. Enyi Uwazurike. Tarique Milton. Chase Allen. Jake Hummel. Thank you for everything you've done for Cyclone Nation. It's been an honor to watch you over the last four years!!

It's been said before, but I think Iowa State has two coaches that fit in extremely well at ISU. Prohm pumping up the Hilton crowd tonight, Campbell always tweeting out support for the basketball team. These two guys embrace everything about Cyclone Nation and we love them for it
Iowa State number of combined bowl games + NCAA Tournament appearances per decade:
1970s: 4
1980s: 4
1990s: 5
2000s: 9
2010s: 12
This is literally the best time in history to be a Cyclone 😎
-20 wins
-7 wins in the Big 12 Conference
-4 game winning streak
-Actually playing good offensive basketball
-Playing in the NCAA Tournament
Life is good.
It's a warm, sunny afternoon in September. You are in Jack Trice Stadium with all of your closest friends. Juicy Wiggle comes on as Iowa State celebrates its fifth touchdown of the day. Life is good. We're only seven months away.
Watching the Vikings play Brock Purdy is like choosing between your biological son who you've known for 30 years, but has caused you a lot of pain so you don't really like him and your adopted son who you've loved since 2018 and has made you proud every step of the way.
Someone on a Cyclone message board years ago said something like "Cyclone fans are so loyal, we'd tune into a game if it were at 3 am" and CBS really took that to heart when they scheduled our game
My interns have seen Iowa State go to a bowl game every year they've been in school, but have never seen a win over Iowa. Meanwhile, I saw multiple 3-9 seasons but saw us beat Iowa 3 out of 4 years. Football is weird 🤷♂️
Iowa State 2019 home football attendance: 59,807
K-State 2019 home football attendance: 48,818
Iowa State average attendance in last two bowl games: 58,971
K-State attendance in last bowl game: 32,859
Also, the headlines kinda speak for themselves.
We are not the same.
Would it be considered "unethical" to find out what hotel the Kansas and Texas basketball teams are staying at in Des Moines and pull the fire alarm at 2 am?
I don't want Campbell fired, but I want him to take a serious look in the mirror and realize that this super conservative shit doesn't work. We've gotta make some changes starting right now. Losing to a MAC team the way we did? Unacceptable.
