Back to basics: (1) Reject segregation. We must move towards one community, no exclusion. (2) An essential building-block for justice? Never look away from the truth. (3) Discriminated against? Despite right-wing judges, there are still powerful tools to vindicate your rights.

There are more than half a million DACA recipients. Just a glitch in my feed, or have those holding themselves out as advocates for immigrants failed recently to highlight these long-time U.S. residents as being at the top of the list of those whose status should be regularized?

@JillFilipovic This is what the phrase “drunk with power” was designed for. Any inhibitions are thrown aside.

Bogus diversity rationales, wink-and-a-nod workarounds (like “put your race into your essay”) & the anti-civil-rights call of identarianism carry no moral, political, or practical force. We have the moral high ground & the words to evoke truly powerful ideas; let’s use them. 4/4

In the midst of an all-fronts attack on constitutional order unprecedented in modern times (even under Nixon), one (perverse) upside is the record being created by these thugs. It’s not ultimately identarianism that’s has them riled, it’s the principles basic to the civil rights movement: fairness, opportunity, respect, and dignity.

.@KeithPowersNYC, running for BP, stands not w the 73%, nor w civil rights orgs backing Intro 407, nor w Council majority co-sponsoring, but w the privileged few who want to maintain lack of accountability & stymie effective Human Rights Law enforcement.

This needs to be page 1, everywhere. More precisely: has gov’t inaction doomed us to be as ill-prepared as we were when COVID first struck? What can we do right now to deal with the urgency of the moment?

Have to imagine that one or more states whose residents are “not having enough babies” will sue. The legal theory, in lay terms: “Are you kidding me? How is this preference even vaguely related to transportation policy?”

New website and video for the Faith-Based Affordable Housing Act! New York needs faith housing. This will unlock over 60,000 homes across New York over the next decade, and enable faith organizations to further serve their communities.

@DavidFBrand @JonnyCustodio It’s not very encoded, but, for anyone who missed it, the phrase “concerned about neighborhood change” in the article means “concerned that the neighborhood is already no longer Black enough.” Ah, progressive New York City.

@TweetBenMax Maybe, just maybe, there’ll be some reporting on what Cuomo did and didn’t do during 10 years as Governor. If so, those favorables will plummet. If not, there’ll be lots of post-primary regrets.

Brilliant! B/c what we need to do w “currencies” useless except for criminal purposes & speculation is: 1) inflate bubble as much as possible; 2) infect financial system & broader economy so both are crypto-ridden; and 3) watch it all go “boom.”

The disclosure bill needed for effective fair housing enforcement in coops— Intro 407, making boards tell rejected buyers reasons for turn down — is co-sponsored by City Council majority+3. But no hearing! What about doing everything to protect our civil rights? @AdrienneToYou

Clear-eyed @errollouis re Mayor’s re-elex prospects. My concern? All anticipate Cuomo’s late entrance into race, but few appreciate time is NOW for reporting on his miserable substantive record in 10 years as Gov (even leaving aside his thuggishness).

Whether or not you agree that with me that identarianism has been a huge disaster for civil rights & otherwise, pervasive demands to inform on others are hallmark of totalitarian states. In the U.S., demanding naming of names was essential to McCarthyism.
