I think it's actually pretty hard to get a whole country to hate you in just a couple months. How would you feel if you lived in lived in a area with guaranteed health care, good schools, and very low school shootings and a country that fails in those areas was suddenly demanding you become like them.

Umm not really how it'd probably work.... They'd probably not give Canada full statehood right away... Depends how many states they would split it into. There would be a census house seats would probably just be redistributed among all the states. It gets 2 senators per state it gets split into... They could also decide only some of Canada gets statehood and the other parts become territories.
