@mnolangray As of Jan 1st, every single city in Montana will be required to permit at least one attached, detached, or internal ADU up to 1,000 sq ft. Can't require parking, owner/family/employment occupancy. No impact fees. No banning renters. No extra heights, setbacks, lot sizes etc.

The most restrictive new residential zone now allows middle-density housing up to 8-units/building by-right and eliminates minimum lot areas in favor of simpler minimum lot widths. This dramatically increases the number of homes allowed to be built within Bozeman city limits. /4

Grew up here and still dislike the “out-of-stater” political trope that both sides like to egg on during election season. It’s only a short hop from resentment of “outsiders” to resentment of people who don’t “look like us” - and all the racist connotations that come with that.
