Brandon Sanderson has unveiled a tentative look at his release schedule for the next 7 years. According to this schedule, the sixth book in The #StormlightArchive is looking at a December 2031 release date.

‘TRESS OF THE EMERALD SEA’ is in the “later interest stage for an animated television series with maybe an offer of an option coming soon” according to author Brandon Sanderson.

The #Mistborn film adaptation that was previously teased did not end up coming to fruition. It even got as far as having stars attached to certain roles. “Now that that has fallen through, I’m back to square one, basically, on [adapting] the Cosmere.”

‘ISLES OF THE EMBERDARK’ - the all-new Cosmere Secret Project debuting with the ‘WORDS OF RADIANCE’ Leatherbound Edition - is expected to begin shipping to backers in the Fall of 2025.

Brandon Sanderson has stated that a crowdfunding campaign for a Hoid Storybook Collection can be expected in 2026. It will feature a group of picture books based on Hoid’s previously told stories in the Cosmere - including The Girl Who Looked Up.

A sequel to ‘WARBREAKER’ - tentatively titled ‘NIGHTBLOOD’ - will be on Brandon Sanderson’s radar to write after he finishes #Mistborn Era 3 and the #Elantris sequels.

Brandon Sanderson on #Mistborn Era 3: ‘GHOSTBLOODS’ “This series will mark the return of some familiar (somewhat spike-filled) characters from Era 1, along with some new characters. It will follow the Ghostbloods and their activities on Scadrial, some 50 years after Era 2.”

Brandon Sanderson on the future of The #StormlightArchive: “It is finally time to move Stormlight to the back burner for a while. It was a 15 year effort to get this sequence done, and I need some time off from the series. I do still love it, and consider it my opus.”

Brandon Sanderson spent part of 2024 working on a screenplay for ‘THE EMPEROR’S SOUL’ to turn the novella into a film. “The talks eventually went nowhere, but I do really like the screenplay I came up with—though it heavily leans into the artsy side of the story.” #Elantris
