Lifeguards treated 25 people stung by stingrays yesterday and, so far, 20 today. Swimmers are urged to shuffle their feet to let stingrays know you’re there & avoid suffering a painful sting. If you are stung, seek assistance from the nearest Lifeguard. Do the stingray shuffle!

The Silver Strand Half Marathon is Sun, Nov 9. Runners start at Sunset Park at 7:30 am - travel south on Ocean Blvd to the Silver Strand and onward to IB. SB lanes of SR75 will be shut down at 6:30 am. NB/SB traffic to share SR75 NB lanes until noon. Good luck runners!

Expect high winds, heavy rainfall, and possible flash flooding. BE AWARE: The City has run out of sandbags. There is a shortage across the County.
In preparation of the Coronado Holiday Parade & Tree Lighting, the Rotary tree lights will be installed tonight through Thurs, Nov 9. Crews will work between 10pm-5 am. The tree is being wrapped in two miles of colorful lights – the same length as the Coronado Bay Bridge!

The public kayak launch ramp is undergoing repairs and is expected to be re-installed by the end of next week.

08/26/11:30 am Cal-Am Boil Water Advisory still in place. Cal-Am will have test results at end of day and make a decision then. A case of water is available at the Cays Fire Station for Coronado residents in the impacted areas south of Fiddler’s Cove.
The Navy Bridge Run/Walk is on Sun, May 19. It begins in San Diego and participants will cross the bridge, finishing in Tidelands Park. Bridge access will be limited from 4-11 am. Both bridge directions will remain open, but at reduced speeds. No access from Glorietta Blvd.
8/252023 12:03 PM: Due to the boil water advisory notice for residents in Coronado, in the Silver Strand area south of Fiddler’s Cover, CalAm is providing a case of water for residents impacted. Water may be picked up at the Cays Fire Station, on a first come, first served basis.

Council proclaims June 6, 2019, as SSGT Thomas Rice Day in Coronado. Rice, 97, parachuted into Normandy on D-Day as part of the 101st Airborne Division & began jumping on the D-Day anniversary in 2014 to honor fellow paratroopers. The local resident plans to jump until he’s 101.

Bike path users are reminded the Bike the Bay event is Sunday, Aug. 22. The ride begins in San Diego at 7 a.m. Participants cross the bridge and use Glorietta Blvd & and the bike path on Strand Way to get to the Bayshore Bikeway & Imperial Beach. The bridge will remain open.
Please be advised the Navy will be conducting a nighttime exercise involving jet aircraft at Naval Air Station North Island on Thursday, August 3, between 2am and 7:30 am. People in the surrounding communities may experience intermittent aircraft noise during this timeframe.
