EEB prof and @CornellBirds director emeritus John Fitzpatrick along with lead author and former EEB grad student @SahasBarve share long-term data study: Florida scrub-jay reproductive efforts hampered by climate change... 📷 Reed Bowman
Because of warmer winters, Florida scrub jays are nesting 1 week earlier than previous years. A paper co-authored by John Fitzpatrick (Lab of Ornithology) found that this made nests susceptible to predation by snakes, resulting in reduced offspring.
