During her visit to Gibraltar, The Princess Royal was pleased to present Coronation Medals to representative members of the Armed Forces and Emergency Services.
The official portraits of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at The Convent and No 6 Convent Place have been replaced with temporary portraits of His Majesty the King and the Queen Consort. Permanent Official Portraits will be displayed in the summer following the Coronation.
On this day in 1952 Her Majesty The Queen acceded to the throne on the death of her father King George VI. Her extraordinary reign of 70 years is the longest in British History. Loyal greetings and heartfelt good wishes from Gibraltar.

Vice Admiral Sir David Steel KBE, DL has been appointed Governor of Gibraltar in succession to Lieutenant General Edward Davis CB CBE. Sir David will take up his appointment in June 2020.

For the first time, the Convent is today guarded by the Royal Navy, Royal Gibraltar Regiment, and Royal Air Force. There will be a Coronation Parade at 6pm. Music is provided by the Bands of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment, Gibraltar Band & Drum Association, and Sea Scouts Band.
The Rowing Marine, Lee Spencer, returns to the Rock after his double world-record breaking row across the Atlantic. An achievement that exceeded the bounds of human possibility and proves that nobody needs to be defined by disability.

The Governor attends a Sunset Ceremony in the Convent Garden in the company of the Chief Minister on the occasion of lowering his Pennant for the last time, on the eve of the completion of his tenure as Governor and Commander-in-Chief.
The Governor and Mrs Davis paid a visit to the Bikers Club to say au revoir to a great club and a wonderful group of people.
