When did you last ask your client how many emails they get in a day? If you have to send one, make yours be the one that stands out and gets read. My top tips from someone who started consulting before there was such a thing as email. (As an aside, maybe a reason why many of my Gen X+ peers want to "just hop on a phone call" all the time...š?!) š§µ

@smbsinmotion @bovolox Ambiguity = Fear for some people. The irony is, that the control / hierarchy is an assumed way of managing itā¦yet is optimised for stasis. Over change. Systems over outcomes: perhaps only where the outcomes donāt accommodate thriving in a changing environment.

@themgmtconsult I love this. It should be up there with all the effort that goes into pointing out, then quantifying [client] problemsā¦just to be able to sell a way to solve them. Thx for sharing.

"Notionās a blue ocean." - yrs truly ~18 mths ago. Iābe been hooked for a long while. Note-taking is super-fast. And the output beautifulā¦ I gather Notion does sync with Gmail (mail, calendars etc) but itās not something. Iāve explored yet. The new G-docs feature of emojis on templates and drop downs suggests people see the blue ocean threat.

Iām so with you on this Adam. And have been in your exact situation many times. Taking a collective deep breath. Zooming out. Naming the elephants. Agreeing on what people disagree about. And what to align on going forward. The deep work that sets teams up for success. And allows them to later move on at speed. The deep work doesnāt have to take long. But people avoid it because they find it too hard. Or donāt have someone to facilitate them thru it. Fortunately that keeps me employed much of the time!

@adamvagley Love this. Clearly speaks to role, purpose and competenceā¦without naming any of them.

@themgmtconsult Everyone wants long and loving relationships, nobody wants to admit what it really takes to make them work.

Thatās extraordinary: I nearly posted exactly the same experience yesterday! I watched the pale winter sun through the branches of melting snowā¦and came up with the idea that perhaps that was the original of Christmas tree lights. āGreat mindsā And Iām totally with you on taking time to stop and smell the roses. Or watch the snow fall. Or melt. Nature is underrated!

Is that because we hear āit doesnāt matterā as some (British) polite way of saying āit really matters, but Iād be brash/rude/uncouth/unreserved if I said as much, and I could hurt your feelings and you should be able to read my mind anywayā¦ā Itās not just the Australian weather I miss in a British winter. Itās the ease of knowing that much of what people tell youā¦they actually mean!
