Elliotte Friedman on 32 Thoughts says John Gibson's preference if he is traded would be EDM or CAR. Friedman says someone told him that last week there was talks about the Oilers and Gibson. Adds that Gibson wants to be a #1 and he doesn't know if a Gibson/Skinner duo will work.

@dpalmy4172 @emanningwrites The 3 was Chicago's, the 2 and 4 that went to Colorado were both Carolina picks.

@emanningwrites They did last year & he makes $5.75 million and has a combined 30 points between last year and this year. With Dostal and McTavish needing raises, it screams trade bait. The problem is the Ducks go below the floor after trading him.

@are_selfies Canes haven’t lost in round 1 since the bubble, and it wasn’t because of goaltending. As always, the offense turning into a pumpkin is the big issue. Freddie will give the team a chance to win any series. The big issue is getting the puck in the net every year.

@emanningwrites Montreal wants a 2nd for Evans according to LeBrun. Carolina have theirs up in the Rantanen deal, so a future 2nd would be required, and that’s just not worth it for a dude that’s over performing. Zegras is a major buy low candidate and screams Tulsky.

@emanningwrites I understand this, but I’ve always thought the solution was simple enough. Either Roslovic or Jarvis. Both can play C, both right handed, and both are passable in the dot. Rod’s one extreme strength is improving players in the faceoff dot so with a bit of work, they’d be fine.

@Canes2Arizona Jaaska’s been fine. Jost wasn’t bad either. Neither have been embarrasments for fourth liners.

@kmellin1 They’re 2 goals ahead of Edmonton and 4 ahead of Dallas in 5-on-5 goals when both teams have an extra game to play. Which would bring them down to 8th for a team that’s supposed to be one for he best in the NHL. It’s not good enough and it’s the system.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but Rod's system kills offense. It's indisputable at this point. We've got 6 years of data that prove beyond argument talent underperforms with Rod. Trocheck, Domi, Nino, now Hall, Rantanen, Necas. There's too many players to ignore the patern

@CaniacSessions Because its my personal account? I seriously recommend taking a minute to calm down because you are acting with a level of immaturity you shouldn't if you want your podcast to succeed. You'll ostracize yourself from your target audience.

@CaniacSessions I literally cover 2 other teams for a living. So let’s turn this question around. Do you watch other teams? Do you understand how a man-on-man system built on point shots affects scoring? Because it seems you don’t, and if that’s the case, you shouldn’t be projecting.

@PierreVLeBrun With logic like that, you can be an NFL referee if you ever get bored at TSN

@RBCCANE @kagey99 Doesn't matter, he's under contract to SKA until May. The NHL's own rules prevent overlap, he isn't an option until May.

In the coming days, do not be surprised to see Jackson Blake sent down. Has nothing to do with the way he's played, but he's waiver exempt, and it would allow Carolina extra cap space to accrue ahead of the deadline, which is why Jaaska and Morrow went back down immediately.

@CaniacSessions Under Rod, Carolina's High Danger Chances Created at 5-on-5 in the playoffs, according to NaturalStatTrick has ranked: 7 13 10 4 4 4 In the last 2 years, they've been able to inflate that against the Islanders in the first round, as well. The offense is not good enough.

@CaniacSessions I’m not saying the players don’t like it. I’m saying it won’t get results. It’s a fun system to watch, and I’d imagine it’s enjoyable to play. It’s a relentless press in a man-on-man system. However, it’s also the downfall of the roster. It limits scoring opportunities by design
