Aaron Judge has 25 extra-base hits in May.
Mookie Betts has 25 this season. So does Pete Alsono. Freddie Freeman has 23. Bryce Harper has 23. Rafael Devers has 23.
Edwin Encarnación is packed up and heading back to New York. Said his RailRiders rehab assignment is over.
“I feel good. I feel healthy. I feel 100 percent. Ready to go,” he said.
Aaron Judge: "I've been ready. It's just about getting the reps in and making sure this thing stays healthy and no issues. And there hasn't been any issues, so ready to go. But those guys are rolling up there, so I don't know if I can crack that lineup. We'll see. We'll see."
Another offseason move:
After 12.5 incredible years in Scranton with The Times-Tribune, I’ve joined the

as a senior writer.
It’s still wild to write that.
I’ll be working on the studio shows, but I don’t think I’m done with the NYY minor leagues yet. Stay tuned!
The Yankees have acquired Gio Urshela from the Blue Jays. He just walked from the Buffalo clubhouse (visitor’s) at PNC Field to the RailRiders clubhouse.
Oswald Peraza demolishes a two-run homer and the RailRiders have come all the way back from down, 9-0, to take a 10-9 lead.
Peraza's 17th homer of the year, and he was PUMPED.
Oswaldo called Oswald to congratulate him. Per Oswald, he said Oswaldo told him he "felt the same happiness when he got the call to go to the big leagues."
Some other things about Oswaldo:
- Yes, some call him Ozzie.
- He's been doing a Soto Shuffle-like thing in the box when he takes a pitch.
- He has a lot of fun playing baseball.
- On Sunday, he tripled off a changeup, homered off a slider/cutter and tripled off a fastball.
My grandma, the biggest Yankee fan I know, turned 97 today.
She was 2 years old when Babe Ruth hit No. 60 in 1927 and 36 when Maris hit 61. At 81, she saw A-Rod’s 500th in person from the upper deck in right field. She said she slept through Judge’s 60th, but she’s the best.
If this major shortstop signing by the Texas Rangers works out anything like the last one, the Yankees can get him in a couple years when he’s ready to move to third base.
Number of Pitches Seen by Yankees in 2024

A little further down the list ... 44 - Austin Wells (4.9/PA)
Increased level of difficulty with Bruce Caldwell dropping the bat way up the line and Rookie flawlessly picks up the bat. It’s the championship series, and Rookie has saved his best for the big stage.
Gio Urshela was traded to the Yankees one year ago today. Had to go all the way from the visitors clubhouse at PNC Field to the RailRiders clubhouse to meet his new teammates.
Jonathan Loaisiga today:
vs. Biggio: K swinging
vs. Bichette: K swinging
vs. Hernandez: flyout
vs. Guerrero: groundout
vs. Gurriel: groundout
vs. Tellez: K swinging
Only took him 26 pitches.
Juan Soto has reached base safely 43 times through the first 19 games of the season. The only other Yankees to do that:
- Mickey Mantle (48 in 1962)
- Babe Ruth (45 in 1923)
- Derek Jeter (46 in 1999; 44 in 2006 and 2005)
- Bill Dickey (44 in 1939)
- Joe DiMaggio (43 in 1941)
In response to
@PawSox
's promotion banning Tylers and Austins for the series against the RailRiders, the RailRiders announce they donate 26 percent of walkup ticket sales for their May 4th game vs. Pawtucket to

's testicular cancer research fundraising efforts.
Bobby Mitchell pulled Gleyber from the game, but didn’t tell him why, only that it wasn’t disciplinary. After the game, Mitchell told Gleyber he was going to New York in front of the whole team, who celebrated with him.
Yankees top pitching prospect Clarke Schmidt worked the last inning of today’s sim game at the Alternate Site. Threw 14 pitches, got up to 96 and had some swing-and-miss secondary stuff. Struck out Estevan Florial and Zack Granite. Got Higgy to ground out.
Oswald Peraza is getting hugs in the RailRiders dugout. He has been removed from the game.
The Yankees have not announced their September callups yet.

Mike Ford shares some thoughts on Instagram on making the Yankees’ opening day roster.
“From an undrafted free agent to an opening day roster, if anyone tells you you can’t do something, it’s not true.”
There's an idea floating around PNC Field that Michael Kay should make a rehab outing with the RailRiders broadcast to get back in game shape. What do you think,
