Needless to say, there is still research to do on the topic- though, as Lynn 2022 notes, there is an ethical problem beyond the scientific issue.

Dealing with some of my PhD papers again and had to repost this. I will stick with guttata for domestic zebra finches, sorry taxonomists 😁

As far as I know, most zebra finch research is done with 'domestic' zebra finches in the lab, which are derived from wild Australian zebra finches. A few years ago, the Australian and Sunda zebra finches were split from subspecies into two separate species.

Systematic review: Dog owners really do look like their dogs - and also resemble their dogs in temperament! Why? Potentially the same effect that drives an assortative selection for romantic partners and human friends - we like others who are similar to us.

How do desert animals find water? Turns out elephants may be able to smell out water- or at least the organic compounds associated with water!

So cool to see this footage of wolverines from @BBCEarth. I wish we could get some wolverines to to run olfactory tests on 😁
