If the last 2 franchise QB mega-trades taught us anything, it's the 2 teams that got the QBs did not get any better, lost a ton of future talent, and are paying hundreds of millions in cap-choking guaranteed money to go with it. So no... I don't want them to trade for a QB again.

I love how people discredit McLoughan because he drafted Sua and Doctson, but ignore the fact that he drafted Scherff, Preston Smith, Crowder, Kendall Fuller, and Ioannidis... and they pretty much used his draft board in 2017 when they drafted Jon Allen, Perine, and Roullier.

Do I want them to retain a top 5 pick? Yes. But how do you expect a positive eval of Sam if they lose out? Hate to say it but, he has to carry them to some upset wins here if he's gonna be "the guy". So that means a few wins down the stretch.

Understand that "build the roster" and "look for QB later" was the philosophy here for the last 4 years. It doesn't work. You build around a franchise QB, not the other way around... and you attempt to get a franchise QB every chance you get until you finally have one.

Adam Schefter said that you could "take it to the bank" that 4 QBs would go in the top 7 of the 2021 NFL draft. He also said that, in that draft, you could "pencil in" Mac Jones to the 49ers. Just something to think about when he says you can "go ahead and buy the jersey now". 🤣
