There’s a scene in the Rugrats where to show the passage of time they focus on the house as trees bloom, the sun rises higher, leaves fall off & then it snows. Standard stuff. Then it cuts to Drew greeting Stu saying “crazy weather we’ve had this week.” That, to me, is cinema.

One of the worst things about comics is that even someone so crucial as Alan Moore can see his creations taken away because the medium is built on the idea that anyone can have a go & canon’s not real. If we can do that to Watchmen we can do it to Sandman.

They’re pissed that you’re stealing the collective work of millions of artists and acting like you’re Picasso for the c21st. They’re bewildered that you can’t see how offensive it is to equate your hour of image search & text prompt with lifetimes spent honing talent.
If AI art was truly not art by its detractors, they wouldn't be so fervent to minimize it—come up with every edge case possible to describe art. They would shrug it off as a relatively low quality useless technology but somewhere deep in their gut they know it's revolutionary.
