Folks, for those of you that follow me for news about the CJHL Jr B league I have some sad news to pass on. Rob Hartnell, the past coach (& GM for a couple of years) of the Wetaskiwin Icemen passed away after a battle with cancer. Please keep his family in your thoughts & prayers

The CJHL Jr B loop regular season is set to start October 28th. It won't be a regular schedule thanks to the ongoing pandemic but it will be some meaningful hockey for the young men who've been waiting to play.
For those of you that want to know, I just announced that Hockey Alberta awarded the 2019 Jr B Provincials to the Wetaskiwin Icemen. Mark your calendars for April 4th to 7th,2019.
It's official! The CJHL Jr B schedule has been uploaded on the website. Please note the early start time for the Edmonton Royals home game and the Morinville Jets are returning to the old arena (renamed REMAX arena). It's unbalanced and short but it's meaningful hockey.

Beverly Warriors defeat Wetaskiwin Icemen 7-2 and take the CJHL Jr B championship. Both the Icemen and Warriors now play in the Hockey Alberta Provincials April 4th to 7th.

For those of you that follow me for news on the CJHL Jr B loop, last night, I announced that after 6 year's I was not staying on as President. I have mixed feelings, but after numerous incidents, the tipping point was having my vehicle spit on after a contentious playoff series.

Mr Hirsch I respectfully disagree. Show emotion when you score, enjoy the game but in my humble opinion this doesn't belong in the game. I know I haven't played at the level you have but I've played the game 50 plus years and was taught to show respect to opponents, not embarrass
After checking Alberta 511 & with the RCMP who advise against travel ALL games in the CJHL Jr B league are cancelled tonight. They will be rescheduled at a later date. The safety of our players,coaches & officials is paramount.

Congratulations tobthe St Albert Merchants on winning the Founder's Cup and qualifying for the Alberta Provincials. And also to the Beaumont Chiefs for a well played finals and a great season. Hopefully the Merchants can top the season off with the Russ Barnes trophy.

To all who follow me for CJHL Jr B updates I'm sad to report the season has been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This means no League Championship or Provincials this year. This was mandated by Hockey Canada and is across the board. Thanks to all for understanding.

We were estatic when our son made U14AA and showered after every game and practice. It meant no smelly rides home. Never heard of anyone wearing a bathing suit. I can only imagine the bus rides home after road games now.

Absolutely no place anywhere for this. As President of a Junior B league in Alberta I'm glad that Hockey Alberta takes it seriously and there's consequences. It has been effective and we are seeing less of it. That said we have more to do until we have no more to deal with.
Talked to several teams of my CJHL Jr B teams and it appears they're all looking for some players. Some more than others. If you know a player or are a player looking to play good competitive hockey, reachout to them via their contact info on the team page.
CJHL Jr B semifinal match ups are set. Leduc Riggers cross over to take on the North Edmonton Red Wings and Beverly Warriors cross over to take on the Edmonton Royals. Both series start Wednesday.
