Been involved in football recruiting for over 20 years and feed back I would always get from college coaches to why they don’t recruit Massachusetts often is there isn’t a lot of talent. Tonight 2 kids from Massachusetts are going to be selected in the first round of the draft.

7 percent of HS athletes go on to play a college sport.
1.8 percent go on to play at D-1 level
Next time a coach ask you to specialize ask him how many kids in his program have gone off to play in college . Way to many kids in HS playing one sport year round.

Jon Baker a Millis football alum will be playing in his last college game today for Boston College. Jon has proven attending a small public high school that has passionate teachers, administrators and coaches will give you the same opportunities as any other school.

Over 27 years of coaching HS football I have learned so much about college recruiting and what goes into it . It saddens me how the transfer portal has effected HS recruits. We live in a society of instant gratification instead of growth and development.

Year 28 coaching HS football and I still love the preparation of game planning on Saturday & Sundays. HS football has changed so much over the years but the one constant, fit your system to ur talent not your talent to your system. Don’t be afraid of change .

Fun fact being one of the smallest schools in Eastern Ma Millis athletics has won 11 state championships since 2000 before that they had won 4 in the history of the school.
